Overview

The English Lake District is one of the most recent additions to UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Admire the rolling countryside and craggy fells whilst listen to your guide about the Lake District's history, geology and the people that have shaped this much-loved region.

Along the way, you will pass some of the region’s most spectacular sights, such as the Borrowdale Valley, Buttermere, Honister pass, Ullswater, and Grasmere. There are many stops on route; a highlight is the Castlerigg Stone Circle with its panoramic views. Our friendly driver/guide will provide an on-board commentary on this full day spectacular tour of lakes and mountains.

Start the tour and meet all passengers at the main pickup point.

Stop At: Glenridding, Glenridding, Lake District, Cumbria, England

The first stop is in the beautiful village of Glennridding, nestled in the Ullswater valley.

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Ullswater Lake, England

Stop by the shores of Ullswater for photographs.

Please note: *Due to Kirkstone Pass road closures, the tour will not visit Ullswater or Brotherswater on the following dates:
6th March 2023 - 3rd April 2023

5th June 2023 - 3rd July 2023

11th September 2023 for 2+ weeks

1st March 2024 - 22nd March 2024

These tours will still be running as usual but with a temporary diversion route; the duration of your experience will remain the same with another spectacular scenery visit added elsewhere.

Stop in the charming town of Keswick and explore.

Stop At: Ashness Bridge, Keswick England

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Honister Slate Mine, Honister Pass, Keswick CA12 5XN England

Stop at Honister where you will be treated to some of the most beautiful views in the Lake District.

Pass By: Buttermere Lake, Buttermere, Cockermouth CA13 9XA England

Buttermere is well known to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the national park.

Pass By: Thirlmere, Keswick England

Pass by the man made reservoir nestled in the shadow of Helvellyn.

Stop At: Grasmere, Grasmere, Lake District, Cumbria, England

Stop in the charming village of Grasmere and pass by the Lake.

Pass By: Rydal Water, A591, Rydal, Ambleside England

Pass by the stunning Rydal water.

N.B. Between Monday 19 September 2022 and Friday 18th November 2022 there are road closures on the A592 (Ullswater) this means between Mondays to Fridays during the dates above the tour will visit 8 lakes, missing out Ullswater and Brotherwaters. Diversions are via the A591. Our Driver Guides will use their experience showing the best of the Lakes. We apologise for this change, but it is completely out of our hands.   • Seats cannot be reserved
  • Each passenger must have their own seat
  • Most travelers can participate
  • Please note, the pick up location you have chosen is where you will be collected from. It is not possible to be collected from a different location once chosen. If you are not at the correct pick up location and miss the tour, we cannot offer alternative arrangements.
  • Westmorland and Furness Council are working towards upgrading and improving the safety of the A592 (Kirkstone Pass) which connects Windermere to Brotherswater and Ullswater. Unfortunately this does mean the road is closed for specific periods throughout the year, including 5th June 2023 – 3rd July 2023, 2nd October – 16th October and 1st March 2024 – 22nd March 2024. We are sorry for the inconvenience, please note our tours will still be running as usual but with a temporarily diverted route during this period.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund
  • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund

Absolutely a must do when visiting Lake district. Really enjoyed all day tour,time went quick with our brilliant driver Duncan ,amazing sense of humour and amazing knowledge in history,geography, philosophy, you name it..just wished that tour will never finished..:)
