For those who want to take a nice hike just outside of Katmandu I recommend Nepal Highpoint Trekking & Expedition, Uttam Pokharel, the owner was responsive and provided good customer service. The guide, Krishina, was excellent, his English exceptional and he takes the hike at your pace. AND the driver, Bishal, is the the BEST driver in the Katmandu Valley I felt completely safe while he was behind the wheel. The hike is not difficult it begins at the top and you walk down from there, the trail is rolling hills rather than steep grades. If you're a good hiker and Krishina will know, there are a few steep shortcuts to give one a better workout. The lunch was near the end of the hike at a small restaurant and it was fantastic. I had a great day.Highly recommended one day hiking!!!First of all, the owner of the company ,Uttam ,organized everything for the successful trip. Our guide Krishna and driver Vishal picked us up punctually at 7. We were on our way to Nagarkot shortly with Krishna giving us a lot of information about the area. The view point there was a quick stop as it ended up being a cloudy morning all around. We started hiking down the hills through small villages and rice fields getting a flavor of local people, their lives, and the food they were growing. After about 2.5 hours of hiking, we stopped for lunch at a local home and he made us a simple yet hearty meal of rice, lentils and potatoes. He even made some homemade chips on our request! We were on our way again through more small villages and saw some beautiful views of the valley. On our request, Krishna took us through some steep climbs in a less populated area before we reached Changu Narayan temple. I would recommend this if you don’t have a lot of time to venture too far out of Kathmandu. So firstly there was a misunderstanding about the departure time, I've been said a day before 7.30am, but then the guide showed up at 7.00am, making me nervous to finish the breakfast ASAP. So firstly there was a misunderstanding about the departure time, I've been said a day before 7.30am, but then the guide showed up at 7.00am, making me nervous to finish the breakfast ASAP. The whole tour was all about driving the car to the viewing point, and then walk to the temple. The guide was not really explaining anything about the area, building and landscapes...he was almost all the time on his phone, and the only things he was interested in was my personal life(thousands of questions, even about my salary - lack of cultural sensitivity at all!) and advertising his services for the future (well, no way!). I can understand it was just before national holidays in Nepal, but come on, if you can't do your job properly, just don't take the trip. To me "guide" is a person who really guides you, not just walk with you. On top of all this his english was poor. After all, I was back in hotel at 1.40pm, far from advertised 5.00pm! This trip should not be advertised as full Day Trip. 90EUR thrown down the drain...By far the best guide we had the whole trip and we had about 3 others. By far the best guide we had the whole trip and we had about 3 others. Santosh Poudel knew how to be a good guide and was very informative and respectful, he made it super fun for us. Helped us bargain with locals, brought us to the best food spots around, and even took time out of his own day afterwards to bring us to local markets. Would 100% recommend!!!!
