Pengalaman yang luar biasa! It was a really wonderful experience going on the Nanggulan tour. The Moana team was quick to respond and answer questions over WhatsApp before and after our trip. Our captain Alfat led us through rice fields, along waterways, and past Javanese neighborhoods. Alfat was extremely knowledgeable about the area and helpful in getting us set up with our bikes. There is an optional path at the end that was a fun challenge for us (we don't have very much off-road biking experience)—but again, that part is optional and the rest of the bike trip was easy and relaxed. We also got to take a pit stop and eat some tempeh, tofu, and cassava snacks while learning more about the Javanese writing system. Mantap (awesome) all around! I highly recommend this experience for anyone interested in seeing the countryside of Yogyakarta and able to complete moderate cycling. We were really enjoyed our trip there. The ambience is really amazing. During the tour they provide delicious snack and jamu. Would like to try another route later when we visit Jogja. Thanks Moana!!

My wife and I did this bike tour. The landscape in this area is really beautiful, tons of rice fields, mountains in the background, all kinds of lush tropical flora. The road we biked on is really nice, smooth pavement. The bikes are high quality. We got to see how tempe is made in the traditional style and even make some ourselves, which was really cool. Got to try some jamu, which we enjoyed. All the locals were super friendly as we rode by, which if you've spent any time in Java you know is totally normal - people here are amazingly warm and friendly. Our guide was very nice and professional. A few negatives - my wife and I are both American but I've been in Java for 5 months and my wife has lived here for a combined 2 1/2 years. I speak basic Indonesian. My wife is fluent and also competent in Javanese. So it was a little disappointing that our guide proceeded as she would with tourists who had just arrived in the country ("This is the month of fasting". "People may great you by saying 'monggo'"). We also expected the tour to be much longer, like at least twice as long as it was. For Amerians and Europeans $35 pp for a 2 hour (at most) bike tour may seem reasonable but by Javanese standards that is EXTREMELY expensive. For that price in Yogya it should include lunch, be twice as long, or both. The other thing I have to point out is that the "sustainable" aspect of the tour is 100% marketing and not meaningful at all. What wouldn't be sustainable about *any* bikeride through the countryside? When we got there they gave us each a branded totebag, which is nice and good advertising for the company but the irony of the word "sustainable" printed on a totebag that no one asked for and whose manufacture caused a bunch of unnecessary carbon emissions was not lost on us. We took one of them, regrettably; we should have left them both. The overall experience was enjoyable though and for a lot of people woud probably be 4 stars. I'd add another half star to my rating if I could.I had a wonderful experience exploring the village and countryside with my knowledgeable and friendly cycle tour guide.
