Narvarte At Night: Tacos, Chelas & Mezcal
Overview
We’ll visit a lively cantina to learn more about Mexico City cantina culture, where we’ll toss back a chela, slang for cold beer, or a cocktail if you wish. And we’ll finish by trying a flight of small-batch, artisanal mezcals in a cozy neighborhood restaurant, part of a private mezcal tasting led by a local chef and expert.
If you want a tour that combines food, culture, and drinks, this is not to be missed!
Inclusions
- As much food as you can eat (enough for a large dinner)
- A private mezcal tasting that includes: 4 (1-ounce) mezcals, 3 appetizers, and 1 dessert per person
- One beer or cocktail at the cantina
- Filtered water throughout the tour
- Generous tips for all street vendors and restaurant staff
What to expect

Stop At: Navarte Poniente, Navarte Poniente, Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast
Beyond the glitz and gloss of the Condesa/Roma sits the Narvarte, a solidly middle-class neighborhood known for its dozens of family-style taquerías and a tranquil setting that hasn’t changed much in decades. On this walking tour, we’ll show you the vibe of a typical Mexico City colonia at night, as we visit taquerías and bars, and join a local chef in a small-batch mezcal tasting.

Our guide Tonalli took us on a wonderful walking tour of 4 very different taquerías and a cantina this introduced us to the wide variety of street food available in Mexico City. At the last taqueria we met the owner for a small-batch mezcal tasting. Tonalli met us at the first taqueria and explained to us exactly what we would be doing on the tour, she also explained the difference between all the tacos we would be tasting and all about the various different salsas we would be offered. Tonallis knowledge was comprehensive and we thoroughly enjoyed the conversation as we walked from each of the pre arranged taqueria. Definitely an excellent tour not to be missed when in Mexico City. The Narvarte at Night tour was one of the best food tours we have ever done. The Narvarte at Night tour was one of the best food tours we have ever done. Our guide Tonalli was excellent - she has a culinary background and really knows the food scene in Mexico City. Her love for local food from Mexico City and her love for the city in general is infectious and makes the tour fun and memorable. There were four stops on the tour (the last one was a mezcal tasting with dessert) and the food at each stop was amazing. We went to places we would never have found on our own and also had the chance to see Narvarte which is known for its taquerias. It was a great way to spend a night in Mexico CityWe went on this tour on our last night in CDMX, and it was potentially the highlight of the trip! We went on this tour on our last night in CDMX, and it was potentially the highlight of the trip! Nico was knowledgeable, funny, and great at answering our many questions. It was worth every dollar - in large part because you get so much about the culture and tradition of tacos/mezcal, rather than just a food tasting (which was also delicious!). Nico also did a great job of adapting to our dietary restrictions, making it a fun and inclusive experience. My husband and I did the Navarte At Night tour with Adrian. My husband and I did the Navarte At Night tour with Adrian. There was one other couple with us and we all really enjoyed it. Adrian was friendly and knowledgeable and each stop was delicious and it was interesting to learn about the food and culture. The Mezcal tasting was unique and out of two mezcal tastings that we did on our trip, this tasting was by far the best. The tour was one of the highlights of our trip and we would highly recommend it!
