What to expect
This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: French Quarter, New Orleans, LA
Embark on your exploration of New Orleans’ cocktail culture from the Gray Line Lighthouse Ticket Office, right on the Mississippi River in the city’s French Quarter. Your group of like-minded 21-and-up revelers will travel the neighborhood’s historic streets, ducking in and out of watering holes and restaurants in buildings that still stand as beautiful examples of French and Spanish Colonial Architecture.
While it’s easy to get lost in the history of your surroundings, the real stars of the tour are the cocktails. Listen in as your guides reveal the stories behind each inventive libation and the characters that brought them to life. Learn the story of the Sazerac, which dates back to 1850.
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
Stop At: The Court of Two Sisters, 613 Royal St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA
Enter the Court of Two Sisters’ Carriageway Bar through the charm gates, wrought in Spain and blessed by Queen Isabella. Now a restaurant world-famous for its jazz brunch and courtyard canopied by a 130-year-old wisteria vine, the block has maintained a lively history since 1726.
Stop At: St. Louis Cathedral, 615 Pere Antoine Aly, New Orleans, LA 70116-3291
At the intersection of two cobblestone alleys in the shadows of the St. Louis Cathedral, is a
legendary pirate hangout. There you’ll meet the “green fairy” known as Absinthe, the mystical herbal elixir that induced intoxicating creativity in many authors, artists, poets, and musicians.
Stop At: Peychaud's, 727 Toulouse St, New Orleans, LA 70130-2127
Relax in the former residence of Antoine Peychaud, the Creole apothecary who prescribed and dispensed his patented herbal Peychaud’s Bitters, which would later become the key ingredient in the Sazerac, America’s first cocktail and the official cocktail of New Orleans.
Stop At: Fritzel's European Jazz Bar, 733 Bourbon St, New Orleans, LA 70116-3145
There’s nothing like soul-stirring jazz to raise your spirits. Your tour ends on a high note at Fritzel's, not your typical dive bar. This jazz pub features the who’s who of New Orleans jazz, drawing jazz aficionados from around the world. You're welcome to stay for the show, then walk to dinner at one of many fine French Quarter restaurants nearby.

We took our tour on a Friday night with Robi during the French quarter fest and had a great time. He was very informative and professional but with a fun edge. Learned a lot and would recommend this tour to all.

Our tour with Jim as our tour guide with Greyline Tours! Excellent! This was the 2nd time we have taken this tour. The first time was with my mom on her first time to New Orleans and this time was with my best friend. We have been fortunate to see different places each time. Request Jim We enjoy this tour for many reasons and have seen it with 2 separate guides and I was grateful it wasn’t a repeat of our first trip. So they change … the historic informations you learn as you walk the streets of the French Quarter and you learn about how the cocktails came to be, The Who’s and why’s are so Fascinating. Now the drinks( not included except your first pre tour drink which was great by the way) however this is a bang for buck tour and it’s a sophisticated stroll not a drunken party. If you are connoisseur of cocktails or want to expand your palate this is a great opportunity for you to do that. I found that I actually like a liquor I didn’t find tolerable in other drinks. Jim as our tour guide; was absolutely amazing. He makes the tour fun and exciting. He is the most interactive tour guide I have ever experienced throughout my years of traveling. Making it a point to keep you interested along with pointing things about about the city you may have never paid attention to. He also prides himself with memorizing your name and where you’re from, along with taking the time to visit with you or your groups throughout the tour and even more so after you have ordered your cocktail and asks your take on the taste etc. His knowledge bases is so diverse from history to architectural history is such a plus, allowing you to explore the city after the tour with a different eye! The serious, silly, half whittled stories facts and tails bring this tour to a different light. If he is not considered the best tour guide for any tour something is seriously wrong.Fun way to get a history of the city!! Drinks were great and our tour guide was fantastic. One piece of advice: Wear comfy shoes!!

We were disappointed that we were not able to complete the tour as we had several unnecessary detours. We did not get a chance to try the Sazerac, visit Antoine’s, or end on time. By the time we left the tour (with our guide), we had already been walking and standing around until nearly 7 pm. We departed late (4:20), when our tour was supposed to start at 4. We were told to arrive thirty minutes, so there was a lot of waiting around. Our guide admitted she isn’t great with time, so we were disappointed that we were not able to experience everything we were promised. However, we did get to see two wedding processions in the French Quarter, so that was fun. Maybe Greyline could post the guides associated with the departure days and times and the reviews for particular guides are the reason we signed up for the tour. Would do again with a different guide.Robi took us on an excellent tour that included alot of intetesting history and some great stops for some great cocktails!
