We purchased the 3 day Hop on Hop off pass with 3 attractions. Worked brilliant for us - its Feb so buses were never too busy, we used our attractions on One World Observ, TOTR and 911 museum.Uptown tour was OK, Downtown was great. We got off at the Financial District to visit 911 and One World then jumped on the Brooklyn Tour at 3pm.We cant quite remember the name of the guide - Rocky, or El Chapman possibly, but he was a local cabbie, a true Brooklynite and totally full of bull!!We love a narrated tour, and know that they spout off non stop with facts and figures, but this guy was just saying anything! He told us Brooklyn has the biggest Marriott in the world - it doesnt. He told us that Juniors cheesecake in Brooklyn was 40% less than Times Square - it wasnt. He told us to go to Hells Kitchen district to eat for 40% off the main tourist traps- it wasnt. We asked for family friendly bar recommendation- he told us Rudy's- it wasnt! Our teenagers hadn't even got through the door before someone said it wasnt a place for youngsters. He harpwd on about property prices but that was proved to be more BS after a quick Google! He was arrogant, and rude to some people and got annoyed when we all switched off from his bleating on.What did he expect - we paid for an enjoyable tour not to be made to feel uncomfortable if we didnt laugh at his bad jokes or take a photo when he told us too. Maybe it's just an English thing that we dont 'get' this type of tour guide but I for one was glad to get off. After of course, him shouting at everyone to sit down even though we had stopped at the stop but then they moved forward a foot to prove a point. Great up to that point, and all staff in the streets very helpful.I took the downtown tour in the morning as part of my NY Pass ticket. I took the downtown tour in the morning as part of my NY Pass ticket. I've done a few of these around other cities in the world and the tour is only as good as the guide. On this occasion our tour guide only spoke during the prerecorded information, meaning we couldn't hear that, and when he did speak he offered no real actual information on the city. He spent the majority of his time complaining about the British, taking about London or England, which is pointless as I've come from London I don't want to hear about London I want to hear about New York. Also if your primary language is English and your audience is from England, to constantly make "jokes" about the English borders on Xenophobic. Also when I collected my ticket from the tout he complained as "he didn't make any money from me because I had a pass" which baring in mind I'd spent $400+ on, I think that is terrible customer service. Avoid unless it's free.We bought the New York Freestyle pass. It included 72 hour bus, night tour, water taxi, and 3 activities of choice. We bought the New York Freestyle pass. It included 72 hour bus, night tour, water taxi, and 3 activities of choice. The pass was super easy to use and we definitely got our moneys worth. Getting on the bus was always easy. I had our ticket QR codes ready to scan. For the 3 activities, I just had to have the person scan my QR code and they handed me a ticket. Super easy! I would highly recommend this for anyone visiting New York. It provides great flexibility and value. We chose the freestyle pass 7 attractions, and took the sightseeing tour a few times. We avoided long queues by going early to the attractions. Be aware that the Empire state building is not included is this pass (october 2019). But a got a 40$ reduction + 10% off. All in all, a great deal.

We bought Freestyle passes with City Sightseeing where 7 different attractions were included. The list of things to choose from was huge, and we had planned our trip thoroughly. Some of the activities we did were great. Top of the Rock was awesome without any problems, the same applies for dining at Planet Hollywood, and lost but least, the walking tour in Soho, Little Italy and Chinatown was magnificent. There was, however,, some things that made our New York trip a bit troublesome, and it should be completely unnecessary: 1) The buses stopped driving at 4 pm on October 8th and they did not start operating until the 10th. We heard from a competitor that it was closed due to the Jewish holidays. We did not get to know this when we bought the tickets, and we contacted the company about several issues, so they should have ample opportunities to provide us with this vital information. We were in NYC for 3 days, and we ended up using the bus service only one day due to this. 2) The company needs to clarify the deal with some of the attractions. We ended up having to argue with the manager at restaurant Buco Di Beppo on Times Square. He said that our pass was not valid for a meal after 5pm, but according to our list of attractions we got from City Sightseeing it said no such thing about limited time. In the same list, it says that you get a Gold admission at Madame Tussauds. When we went there, we were told that our tickets did not apply for a gold ticket, and we could therefore not take part in all of the activities and were not given a photo. It is not pleasant to be standing there arguing with different employees about these arrangements knowing that we have paid more than 700 USD for our family to access all of these NYC attractions. All of this said, we had a great time in NYC, and we think that having such a pass is a very good idea, but it must be possible to make better arrangements with the different providers. The price was very reasonable and included cycle hire, not used, a bistro trip found Statue of Liberty and entry into Museum of New York. The price was very reasonable and included cycle hire, not used, a bistro trip found Statue of Liberty and entry into Museum of New York. Initial contact with staff was not good as girl was not pleased we wanted paper tickets. She demanded I use my phone which I wouldn't Do as too expensive and reluctantly gave me what I asked. Later saw lots of others with paper tickets do what was the problem. Buses were ok but not brilliant and took ages to get anywhere. Dud see a fair bit of the city.
