One day bike from Da Lat to Mui Ne
Overview
The ride goes through small minority villages and jungle forested valleys to the beautiful beaches below. The first section of riding is through coffee plantations and forest and includes a 5 kilometer uphill climb to get you warmed up. This is followed by plenty of down hill and rolling sections.
A final long downhill pass is completed before the road flattens out with a long cruise to Highway 1, where the ride ends and our vehicle transports us the rest of the way to Mui Ne (usually 30 minutes). The road is mostly paved (sealed) secondary and the support vehicle is used to transport all luggage and provisions for lunch and refreshment. The ride is also flexible in length, as the support vehicle can be used at any time.

Me and my boyfriend absolutely loved our journey with Phat Tire adventures. We did the one day 75km trip down from Da Lat to Mui Ne, and it’s so much fun if not for the faint of heart! I have never used a road bike in my life and in all honesty I didn’t think I was going to be able to complete the trip. It’s super fun and quite tough at times so I would definitely recommend it if you want to do something exciting and extraordinary on your holiday. The landscapes you pass are stunning and the roads are quiet. We loved visiting the village and the much-needed packed lunch and yummy iced coffee! There is a van you can jump in if you get too tired but we managed to make it to the end without using it! I was very proud of myself, but really it was all thanks to our wonderful guide, Linh, who let us go at our own pace and stop for water as much as we needed. He was full of interesting information about the people, wildlife and landscape of the area and I cannot thank him, and the driver, enough! I think we might have been a bit slower than average on the way up but we went pretty fast on the way down (I might have gone too fast at times!) so we made up any time lost. The guys dropped us off at our hostel afterwards and even called me later as I’d left some biscuits behind in the van. They were really kind and thoughtful and it was one of our favourite parts of the holiday. Thank you so much!!! If you’re into great views and don’t mind a bit of exercise, this is the best way to get from Da Lat to Mui Ne. The roads are quiet and the scenery in the mountains is amazing. Our guide, Lin, went at our own pace, and was always encouraging and patient. I had no mountain biking experience before this, and managing to get up to some thrilling downhill speeds. The bikes are very high quality brand-name bikes with all the required accessories, and helmet, gloves and water are provided. The trail is quite tough, but if you only want to do parts of it you can jump in the van for the uphills, or the long flat road at the end of the tour. Even if you don’t cycle the full route, the whole experience is worth it for the small villages you pass on the route and the gradual descent from cool highlands to the more humid parts at sea level. We had a lovely Banh Mi picnic for lunch, and had plenty of stops for water, trail advice, pictures and local oddities. I’d highly recommend this tour, and the professional service from Phat Tire would make me book another tour with them next time I am in Da Lat. Thanks Lin and Mr Bo for a great day in the mountains. We did the tour as a couple. As it was still Tet we thought it might not be possible. We did the tour as a couple. As it was still Tet we thought it might not be possible. Nevertheless the guys from Phat Tires made it possible and it was an amazing experience. Starting 5k uphill, and then through the beautiful jungle with monkeys on the side of the streets. Downhill we had such a breathtaking view over the mountains and the jungles. Our guide adjusted very well to our speed. Explained everything very good, not only concerning the bike (I have never been on a mountain bike before), but also the track and the surroundings. The lunch break was a well prepared picknick at a local coffee shop. Including fresh fruit and sandwiches. We did not make it till the very end as it was very hot and we are both not that well trained. This was no problem as our "safety car" was just around the corner to pick us up and bring us to our hotel. So far one of the most memorable experiences of our holiday in Vietnam. Thanks a lot!We did the two day bike trip from Da Lat to Mui Ne and it was amazing! Our guide, Biet, was lovely and made sure we were comfortable and happy at all times! We did the two day bike trip from Da Lat to Mui Ne and it was amazing! Our guide, Biet, was lovely and made sure we were comfortable and happy at all times! The first part of the trip was a bit scary, navigating traffic in busy Da Lat, but soon after we got to the country side and we felt much better. Still many trucks that pass very close and honk loudly, be prepared for this! The driver, Fu (not sure about the spelling, sorry!), followed us the entire way. Even though we didn't need to sit in the car and rest, it was very comforting to know that this was a possibility in case the cycling got too much! Fu made sure we had a lovely lunch each day, baguettes and fruit, delicious! The overnight accommodation was very basic, but that was expected for a two day trip where we paid less than U$200 per person for the entire thing (bike, guide, driver, luggage transport, lunch, dinner, breakfast and lunch and hotel!). Dinner on the night was at a very small, very local eatery. I got the feeling they didn't normally cater to tourists as there was no menu and definitely no English was spoken. We had the best time though, with Biet and Fu explaining the meal to us! For the first time ever we ate goat, it was delicious! It was an experience we would have missed out on if we hadn't done this tour, as we would have never had the guts to eat at such a local place since we don't speak any Vietnamese. The second day of cycling was almost all countryside, we passed the most beautiful villages and rode through the jungle, luckily pretty much all of it downhill! We finished up about 30 mins outside of Mui Ne and got transported to our our hotel. This was definitely the highlight of our trip and we are already making plans for a future trip with Phat Tyre! On that note, next time we will train more on the bike beforehand. We are both fit runners, but were struggling a bit with the uphill part of the course. Also, make sure to wear proper bike shorts. Your backside will thank you!Wir haben die Tour zu 2. mit Guide gemacht und es hat uns super gefallen. Tolle Strecke durch die Berge und kleinere Dörfer, vorbei an Kaffee- und Dragonfruit-Plantagen. What a fabulous experience this trip was. Communication was easy over WhatsApp and our guide Linhde picked us up punctually at 7.30. It was quite a drive to get out of town to where we would meet our bikes but Lindh was chatty and gave us lots of information. We were a group of 4. The bikes were what we call In Australia Gravel bikes. They had smooth tyres and were really well maintained. Fully geared, disc brakes and front suspension. I was a little concerned about how I would go riding 70km in the heat but there really is lots and lots of downhill. It was an amazing ride with hardly any traffic at all and fantastic views. It bucketed with rain at one stage but that kind of added to the adventure and kept us cool. Lunch was delicious. We were exhausted and muddy by the end of the day but it really was a great day. Highly recommended and I’m so glad we did it. Linhde was a great guide and very safety conscious . He rode with us and we also had two vehicles following us so you feel very well looked after.
