Your first stop will be Huangluo Yao village where you could see long-haired women adorned with silver earnings and traditional red dresses. This Yao village is located on Mountain slope along the river with 30 wooden houses and over 300 in population. You will learn the secret of how locals keep their hair long and what kind shampoo they use to make their hair so dark and shining.
Then, drive to Pingan Village where you will trek from the parking lot to viewpoint No. 2 to see the rice terraces view called "One Moon with Seven Stars" and Pingan village with wooden houses. Pingan Village has a population of over 500 people. Local villagers work hard to maintain the rice terraces since the ancient time. You may take a break at the top of viewpoint No. 2 for about 30 minutes. Later, trek from viewpoint No. 2 to viewpoint No. 1. From the top of viewpoint No. 1, the rice terraces resemble the backbone of a dragon twisting and turning into distance. This is the most beautiful view of the rice terraces in Pingan village.
Afterwards, you will descend to Pingan Village for lunch to sample bamboo rice, local rice wine, and smoked pork...etc. Then, drive back to Guilin hotel after lunch in the village.

This tour was actually better than I thought it would be. Going in December meant we pretty much had the place to ourselves and the scenery was still spectacular. Our guide, Leo, was extremely informative without being intrusive. Had lunch at an excellent cafe before going to a village. To be honest that place was a bit weird, lots of locals just standing around staring, was glad we didn’t have lunch there, but also gave us a good laugh when safely back in the car! When this listing says private tour, it means it! I thought we would be thrown in with a few other people, but, no! What a pleasant surprise! Leo spoke great English, and was very helpful, relaxed, and kind. Leo spoke great English, and was very helpful, relaxed, and kind. He really seemed to understand what would make for a perfect tour, and there was ZERO hassle. Also, the restaurant he took us to was fantastic, which is saying something because I have a picky wife. The 500-year old rice fields are truly a work of beauty. We had a wonderful trip to the Longshi Rich Terraces with our guide, Leo. It takes quite a while to get there by car from Guilin, but along the way he would tell us about what we were seeing, background on the local agriculture, customs and so on. It made the long ride a bit shorter. The Rice Terraces themselves are quite a sight. It’s a bit of a trek up some stairs to the views, but Leo is very attentive to his guests’ particular needs so no one will feel like they’re out of their comfort zone. There are two viewpoints. One is at the end of a bunch of steps. It’s a 20-40 minute climb depending on your fitness. At the top there is a fairly new and easy walk of about 30 minutes to the second view point. Highly recommend this tour.As part of our visit to Guilin, China in May, 2019, we arranged a private tour to the Longshen Rice Terraces through Guilin Private Tours. As part of our visit to Guilin, China in May, 2019, we arranged a private tour to the Longshen Rice Terraces through Guilin Private Tours. Our tour guide was Huong, who did an excellent job sharing about the history and culture of the region, and was very patient in accommodating our slow pace due to my wife's arthritis. On the way to the rice terraces, we stopped at the village of Longsho, and enjoyed bargaining with the charming local ladies who were selling souvenirs. Huong kindly arranged for a car to take us up to the starting viewpoint at the Dragon's Backbone, which made the rest of the trek possible for my wife. The terraces are just amazing, and the ingenuity and hard work of the people is clear to see. We stopped for a bamboo rice lunch in the one the villages before continuing to the Seven Stars and Moon viewpoint, then worked our way back down to the car and driver. We had plenty of time for photos and meeting vendors, and also an opportunity to learn how the long-hair ladies take down and put up their amazing hair (for a small fee). They were delightful! We highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Guilin! Thank you so much, Huong, for making this special day possible with your gracious kindness!
