I didn't do the sunset (we went earlier in the day) even though the views for that must be amazing. It was fun throughout-- even the door to door pickup from Antigua. I got to see more of Guatamala from my travels from Antigua to the meet spot for the horses. I git to puck a cowboy hat and my horse was assigned. I let the horse do all of the work and I was great. We stopped for a great view, some home made cheese, learned about a leaf with medicinal and preservation qualities and then continued our scenic travels. Once we got to the Lava pit/area it as really like we were on another planet. Pictures cannot do it justice because the scale was so unbelievable. The dogs in the area were a hoot...look for Lovita! They love pizza too! And about that pizza-- it was amazing. I mean really good. Bring a good camera, Bring some great hiking shoes...flip flippers you were warned, they provided water, a comfy pillow to enjoy your meal and time to actually take in the environment. Bring Qtz no credit cards...if you want some cool lava gifts!! Highly recommend as its also for an outstanding cause! I will bring my kids back. Oh and by the way Manuel our main guide was AWESOME!!!This tour was the highlight of our Guatemala tour. Nikki, Manuel, the cowboys and the horses were all amazing. We loved everything about the tour and especially our hosts. We were also very impressed with all the volunteer work they do for the dogs, cats and horses of Guatemala. Amazing experience from start to finish. Absolutely stunning views, great company and personable guides. The horses are well cared for and in great health - Nikki was a pleasure to communicate with in setting up the tour and Manuel was an A+. The ride from Antigua to the stables is manageable- about 45 mins and the ride up and down is the perfect duration. Sipping wine and eating pizza at sunset is magical. Highly recommend the full experience. This was the highlight of our trip to Guatemala! Miguel and Niki are not only great hosts, but amazing people. This was the highlight of our trip to Guatemala! Miguel and Niki are not only great hosts, but amazing people. They took our group of 10 up the Pacaya volcano for an unforgettable experience. Our 10 year old son (who does not have experience riding horses) also went and we never felt unsafe nor any issue with the horse nor the trail. The view and time on the volcano was increíble. The views are breathtaking! The pizza and wine were the best. We recommend this adventure to anyone e! We had some people who have had back issues in the past and had no issues at all during this trip! This trip was a hit with the 50 year olds, the teenagers ans the 10 year old! Great for everyone! We loved everything about this tour. Our guide Manuel made us feel special and really does a great job taking care of his customers. We loved everything about this tour. Our guide Manuel made us feel special and really does a great job taking care of his customers. The ride is nothing scary so even beginners can enjoy this tour. The pizza and views were unbelievable! We booked this luxury private tour for my wife and I, but it consisted of a total of 5 workers. Our 2 handlers, Manuel and his handler, and a volcano guide. I didn’t know it would be this much personnel so I felt bad at the end of the trip that I didn’t bring enough tip money for the 5 workers. These are the actual owners of the horses which are local residents. The volcano guide was really nice as well. Be prepared to bring extra tip money for the others besides your “Cowboy” that works for Guatamala Horse Tours. Thanks Manuel!!!!This trip was absolutely stellar in every way. This trip was absolutely stellar in every way. Picking us up from the hotel was timely and easy, the ride to Pacaya was gorgeous and we loved talking with our guides— the horses were well behaved and made even nervous riders happy (& the experienced ones too!!), we loved the volcano shop at the top. The food was outstanding. The views were breathtaking. Every part of this trip was well executed and magical. We had 14 people, mostly adults and also children. Highly recommend!!
