We were extremely excited and lucky that the museum had just reopened after a long renovation. Mario made sure we saw “the diver” which is an important relic. This was an excellent tour. This was an excellent tour. There was nothing our guide (?Mario) seemed not to know. Such an in depth knowledge he showed and he managed to convey the efforts of the ancient Greek civilisation in building all the temples and the remarkable combination of circumstances that led to such extraordinary state of preservation. Was unaffected by the eruption of Vesuvius. Ruins date back to almost 600 BC. The one thing I would say is that it was very hot even when we went in October 2023 and our youngest (13) did not tolerate well the external tour due to the heat and the detail older adults needed to hear but not young teenagers and below. He did find the museum more interesting and it is air conditioned. A complete package would probably only suit older teenagers and above and be prepared for flies, use mosquito spray and sun cream ( lots of).We liked our tour with the attentive guide Mario. He knows quiet a lot and can transfer the facts easily
We liked our tour with the attentive guide Mario. He knows quiet a lot and can transfer the facts easilyGreat tour. Our guide, Maria, was wonderful. Pleasant, knowledgable and enthusiastic. Turned out we were her only two clients, which made the tour an even better value and experience than it would have been anyway. Highly recommended! Grazie Maria!
