I booked this tour because I had a business trip to Panama, so I added the weekend to the trip so that I could tour the Panama Canal. So, I'm eagerly awaiting this bucket-list trip. I provide my hotel at the time of booking. I arrive in Panama the night before. The tour company was supposed to contact me the night before to tell me the time of departure and what time they are picking me up from my hotel. By 9 PM or so, they still have not contacted me. So I called and left a detailed message. No response. So the next morning, my departure time is at 9 AM. I wake up at 5:30 and call again, no answer. I go down to my hotel lobby, but no one shows up so at 7:45 I arrange my own transportation to the departure point. I get there, and they are nowhere to be found. I look for an hour, and call multiple times and ask lots of people, but no one there has even heard of them, and they do not return my calls. So I go back to my hotel and report this to Viator - A TripAdvisor company, and request a refund. They reply back that a refund is not possible because I did not provide my hotel information (I did though) and I didn't cancel in advance. Please keep in mind I reported this at 9:30 AM on the day of the tour, when the tour was actually happening without me. I'm not happy TripAdvisor. Not happy at all. Not only am I apparently out the cost of trip and the cost of the extra days in Panama, but I also didn't get to see the canal. If I could rate them 0 out of 5, I would.i booked a 9 am tour and was picked up at 6. all the others paid 145,and i paid 225. this was booked way before. not happy camper. tour was good

Overall great experience on the canal. The hotel pick up was a little confusing - a different operator picked us up than indicated in the confirmation from Viator. They were also an hour late picking us up. Lastly, the operator didn't have the correct paperwork when we got to the canal entry point and we had to wait 90 minutes on the bus while the operator worked it out. Again, the tour on the canal itself was excellent, but the logistics with the transportation to and from required extra patience and flexibility.
Amazing trip through a true exhibit of man's abilities. And, to think it was done over 100 years ago is even more amazing.

Our guide was delightful, but the waiting was not. We were told to be in our lobby at 7:15 for a pick up time between 720 and 740, at 825 our bus arrived.
We then went to the terminal where we waited for our next bus and then off to the boat, where we waited for the food to arrive, etc. ...

After we got underway things were better, there was plenty to drink, sodas and water. The breakfast snacks of fruit and cake were nice. Lunch was so, so - beef or chicken with rice and potatoes, mixed veggies and a basic salad.
But I will say our Guide was informative and fun to listen to - the trip through the locks was worth the time.
I am glad that I went on this trip.
