What to expect
Your Pilot provides you with an area briefing before you board the plane. Take off, and fly above the beautiful blue water, take in the magical scenery of the Islands before crossing the coral sea headed straight for the Great Barrier Reef! Orbit on each side of the aircraft for that perfect picture of Heart Reef, then prepare yourself for your water landing at Hardy Lagoon! Upon arriving at the lagoon, board a glass-bottom boat, Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife as your guide tells you about the area. Now it’s time to go snorkeling! You can get geared up, and hit the water to spend about one hour snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef.
Then it’s time to embark on your next part of the journey to Whitehaven Beach where you’ll have another hour of free time to swim, sunbathe, or explore after you enjoy the picturesque flight over the swirling sands of Hill Inlet. You can also indulge in some light snacks and refreshments provided for you, including sparkling wine.
Your tour ends with the flight back to the Whitsundays Airport.
Additional information
- Please bring swimwear, towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, camera and light jacket for cooler months between May - August
- We suggest you wear your swimmers as there are no changing facilities on the vessel

- Exact time of departure and arrival may vary due to weather conditions, tides and aircraft variables
- Please note: If you are staying on Hamilton Island, you must take a ferry to/from Hamilton Island to the mainland of Airlie Beach. Departure time of your seaplane tour varies daily due to tidal patterns. Not all ferry services will match up with your departure time. Please check ferry timetable to ensure you will arrive in time for your seaplane tour. No refunds available if you miss your departure time.

We recently had a Sea Plane Tour booked which included two take off and landings on Water. Unfortunately the weather (wind) was not kind to us and prevented us landing on Water but our Pilot Jai still provided a great Scenic tour. In the lead up to the flight Danielle was super helpful calling with Weather updates and what they expected would happen. She even called at 5am to confirm whether or not we would be going! Danielle picked us up from our accommodation, was super friendly and chatty and then even dropped us back in town so we could go and get lunch. We didn't get to do the trip we had booked but they were super helpful and did the best in the circumstances. Gutted to have not done the landings but I guess its an excuse to go back and do it again!This is a must do and completely worth the splurge! My tour was only 5 of us and we got to fly in the historic Beaver plane. Our pilot was amazing! Had very little bumps, smooth take offs and landings. The views are incredible! We had the entire lagoon to ourselves!! The viral is alive and there were fish. They provided all gear and champagne/cheese and crackers for when we got out of the water. Then we flew over hill inlet and landed at Whitehaven Beach. The entire tour was 5 hours and we had our own private party. Definitely the way to see the reef. A fantastic way to see the reef, this tour was in a small sea plane with only one other party of three involved- making it a very private tour with five people total. Pilot/guide/life guard was fantastic and the weather was, luckily, beautiful. We flew over the reef, including the heart reef and went snorkelling within the relative safety of a closed off section, lessening the likelihood of sharks- my preference. The sealife was bright and plentiful, the water was very clear. A beautiful day. Would definitely recommend!I had signed up for this tour of which the highlight would have been to land and snorkel. I would not have gone had I known we were not going to land. It is hard to believe that this was not know at time of take off. I only went because I was told "landing was likely." So, I'm thoroughly disappointed. Buyer beware.Brilliant from start to finish. It's definitely the best way to view the Whitsundays and reef. Saw loads and got some great pics!
