Had a really enjoyable visit to the seal colony at Pelican Point with our guide, Denzel. A very friendly and informative guy, he made the trip interesting and fun, and provided insight not only on the seals but on the local bird life, saltworks and numerous aspects of Namibian life in general. And of course the seals were great to see. Having the pups all around, happy to play with the kayak and paddle, and watching the adults up close on the beach, (play) fighting and growling with one another, was impressive. A good trip, which initially seemed overpriced, but was in fact probably about right.Booked this as a last minute decision, we were not disappointed. Booked this as a last minute decision, we were not disappointed. Francois was our guide and was so knowledgeable, friendly and happy to stop and divert for the flamingos and really interesting information about the ecology and wildlife and some great reflection shots! Also saw the famous Namibian surfing wave, I think the donkey, skeleton wave maybe? (not a surfer!) The drive along by the sea was worth the trip alone! You're given a brief explanation of kayaking and there are splash proof garments available (you're entering water, risk of getting wet is obvious!). We had a calm day so I just wore a waterproof running jacket and running leggings. The purpose of the kayaking is to see the seals and enjoy their playfulness if you're looking for just kayaking where you go off to different places book another trip. The guides leave you to it after letting you know the intended perimeter and that's it. We were in a two and just enjoyed a bit of kayaking and chilling with the seals. Highly recommend this tour!!We booked this trip weeks before we went to Namibia to make sure we could do this trip and it was worth it. We booked this trip weeks before we went to Namibia to make sure we could do this trip and it was worth it. Our guide told us a lot about the surroundings like the salt pans and the flamingos. We also saw some pelicans and jackals. Paddling amongst the seals is the absolute highlight of this activity. According to the guide the seals know no fear because they have no natural predators in the bay. A very special experience. I do have a few remarks: bring some dry clothes and your own camera. The clothes they provide are raincoats and not completely waterproof. Everyone of us had wet shoes and sleeves (water is running in your sleeves because of the paddling). And about the camera: the guide makes pictures with a small camera of 20 years old. Very low quality. If you have one; bring your GoPro!
