Hiking the highest peak in Fiji is no easy feat. The mountain is in a rain forest, therefore expect some rain and muddy terrain. Peni lead this hike and went above and beyond to ensure my safety at all times. The car ride to the trailhead is fabulous with gorgeous views of the mountainous zone of Fiji. After reaching the summit, we took some well deserved pictures and ate some lunch. We hiked down and was invited to some lemon tea and “pancake bread” with the villagers. This was such an awesome experience! On the ride back to drop me off at my hotel, we were rewarded with a breathtaking sunset. I truly recommend doing this trek. Peni is an amazing and charismatic individual that gives more flavoring to the experience. Driving through the different villages and spending some time with the villagers after the hike, definitely allowed me to appreciate another side of the Fijian way of life, which will always cherish. Thank you Peni for this AMAZING experience!! I recommend this activity to anyone seeking a full days worth of adventure and a good story to tell 😊.The tour goes from the pickup spot of lodging to the highest peak on the island. Peni was such a wonderful guide! He was super informative and eager to teach me more about Fijian culture. He picked me up from my hotel and we started the trek in the small mountain village that he grew up in. The hike lasted us a total of about 4 hours, and it was a beautiful escape into the Fijian rainforest. It was definitely challenging, and there was a fair amount of hand-over-foot scrambling, but Peni was an awesome and patient guide. The summit was a beautiful place to rest and enjoy lunch, and it was great to get to meet some of the local villagers at the base!I had a hike up Fiji's highest point with Peni, Qia and Mereka. I was my last trek in Fiji after a ten day stay and it was everything and more than expected. We can clear skies at the summit to enjoy lunch and I met some local villagers on the way there and back. I had a hike up Fiji's highest point with Peni, Qia and Mereka. I was my last trek in Fiji after a ten day stay and it was everything and more than expected. We can clear skies at the summit to enjoy lunch and I met some local villagers on the way there and back. Highly recommended! Next time I'll arrange some time to stay in Navai Village.
