A wonderful day trip from Tunis! It was a truly amazing day, everything was perfectly organised. We had a learned tour of the dougga ruins, our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us ample time. We were also able to have brief stops in Testour on the way home. Great tour, much recommended.

Due to the illness of a friend I am visiting, I scheduled this trip last minute - the day before. Due to the illness of a friend I am visiting, I scheduled this trip last minute - the day before. I was picked up promptly by my guide, Noureddine, and had the best day. He went above and beyond to show me around his country. Not only did we go to Dougga, but we stopped in Testour to see the mosque, we sampled cheese, bread, stopped at an olive oil press shop, a country farm stand, the American cemetery in La Marsa (although it was closed for Presidents’ Day) and before he dropped me off he drove me through La Marsa and pointed out shopping and the best restaurants and things. He also happily took a ton of silly pictures around Dougga. I highly recommend Noureddine as a guide! Dougga is an incredible site, with intact mosaics, mausoleums and temples dating before the Romans, and tunnels and hidey-holes you wouldn’t get to experience at another similar site. In my humble opinion it far exceeds the Roman Forum in Rome. The Tunisian people are warm and welcoming, and I can’t recommend this trip enough!Noureddine Boukari was an outstanding guide and historian. Noureddine Boukari was an outstanding guide and historian. His knowledge of Phoenician and Roman history was extensive. His joy and enthusiasm for Tunisian history (especially recent events), political science, culture, and art was infectious. I spent the most pleasant 8-plus hours driving across the countryside and small villages in my many (40-plus) years of travel, including two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Marrakesh, two years in the foreign service, and six months of travel in my land cruiser through north, west and central Africa. .If you go to Tunisia, ask for Noureddine
