Private Excursion to Testour, Dougga and Bulla Regia from Tunis.
Overview
With us you can discover two exceptional archaeological sites, Dougga and Bulla Regia.
The first stop of our excursion is the visit of Testour, this village was founded by the Moorish people at the beginning of the 17th century. We will take a panoramic tour of the city, from the famous mosque to the beautiful minaret adorned with a clock whose hands turn counterclockwise.
Then we will continue to Dougga, the ancient Roman city of Thugga. We will appreciate the visit of the beautiful ruins wonderfully preserved if you are passionate about history and art: the theater, the capitol, the forum, the thermal baths, the houses, the place of the wind rose, the triumphal arch, the Libyco- Punic Mausoleum
Then you will visit Bulla Regia. This archaeological site is famous for its religious buildings: the capitol, the temple of Apollo, the two Christian basilicas, and the church of Alexander.

This is a typical itinerary for this product
Pass By: Great Mosque of Testour, Tastur Tunisia
The Andalusian village of Testour is famous with the Great Mosque, it epitomizes Andalusian architecture, especially its minaret, which features Andalusian-style inscriptions and architectural elements. The height of the minaret is 23 meters and it is an octagonal shape. The facade of the minaret is opened by small double windows adorned with glazed inscriptions and a mechanical clock at the top. Its appearance resembles the Aragonese bell towers of southern Spain. Visitors will have the pleasure of enjoying a cheese tasting to taste the specialty of the region. About 1 hour journey.
Stop At: Dougga, Teboursouk Tunisia
Unesco classified this site on the World Heritage List in 1997, considering that it is the “best preserved small Roman city in North Africa”.
This archaeological site preserves, within its delimitation, the vestiges of different periods of the ancient city with all its components: the monumental center (capitol, forum, market, place of the wind rose ...), the buildings of shows (theater, circus) and the public baths clearly reflect the way in which an indigenous foundation evolved during the Roman period.
Duration: 3 hours
Stop At: Bulla Regia, Jendouba Tunisia
The archaeological site of Bulla Regia is located a few kilometers north of the city of Jendouba, in the northwest of the country, it is one of the main stages of cultural tourism in this region. The remains it presents bear witness to more than 17 centuries of the history of an agglomeration founded by the Numidians at the end of the 6th century BC at the latest and which quickly became a royal residence. Autonomous at the beginning of the Roman period, it was erected as a municipality under the Flavians and as a Roman colony under the Emperor Hadrian (117-138). At the end of the 5th century, its inhabitants were judged as bad Christians by Augustine.

I did the trip with tour guide Chaouki and had an amazing day. He took his time and was really knowledgeable. I really recommend this trip. He went out of his way to make the trip as pleasant as possible. Not only did I get plenty of information about the sites we visited, but on the way he gave me a lot of information about the landscape, plants and animals living in Tunisia. Chaouki also gave me a good time with all his jokes. The places we stopped for lunch were also really good and a great way to try some Tunisian food. I also did the tour with him to Kairouan, El Jem and Monastri, and what a day. Highly recommend doing both of the trips!Great private tour! Saw quite a bit and didn’t feel rushed at all. My guide Ahmed even offered to take photos and gave me time to explore and take pictures. I should say, Dougga was the highlight of the tour. A must see! Overall enjoyed the experience and highly recommended.

If you love history and are fascinated by the Romans, you simply must visit the stunning and evocative Dougga! From the entrance through the immaculately preserved amphitheatre, down the paved streets towards the temple columns, through the olive groves with panoramic views of the rugged landscape, and into the ruined villas and baths, it’s like stepping back in time. All this, and you’ll have it virtually to yourself; see it now, before the world finds out! The tour ended with a visit to Bulla Regia, another ancient city, with fabulous mosaics in the underground temples. This was the second tour I took with Didon Tours, and they were both great. As I said in my other review, it was extremely well organized, from start to finish. I was collected from my hotel right on time and the car journey was comfortable and safe, with stops to buy food and use bathrooms when needed. I’d also give a huge thank you to Ahmed, my guide, for his encyclopedic knowledge of archeology, history, politics, and the local wildlife and vegetation! I certainly learnt a great deal and he really brought the history alive with his descriptions and funny stories. Would strongly recommend the tour, thank you! The tour was excellent and very much worth doing. The guide was well-informed and made it very interesting.
