Jonathon was one of the best tour guides we've ever had. As a world traveler, that means a lot. He made our adventure a total pleasure. He is a lawyer by degree but came back to Bacalar because of its beauty and history. You get to experience his intelligence and friendliness throughout the tour. His craft is not brand new but very able. It's probably about 18 feet long, with built in benches for 6 to 8 people to sit. There is also cover to get out of the sun, if need be. The boat is not as wide as the other pontoon boat on the lake, therefore, we went to places that other tours could not go. It was well worth it. Jonathan is well versed in English. Therefore, he could tell us the prehistoric history of how Lake Bacalar was formed along with the centotes in the lake. This is very interesting, by the way. He also knows the history of the Mayan culture, the Insurrection and how it affected the area's history, the Spanish and English explorers, etc. He is also well versed in the lake's modern history. But most of all, he intimately knows the lake and where to go to see all the magnificent colors of the water and the stromatolites! Definitely get into a conversation about stromatolites. The tour was so striking and memorable, I'm thinking of writing a short story about me and my wife's adventures on the lake. Thank you, Jonathan. You have created memories for years to come. For anyone wanting to tour the Lagoon of Seven Colors, Jonathan is the way to go bar none.DO NOT BOOK WITH ANYONE ELSE!!! Jonathan is the BEST guide to show you the best of beautiful Bacalar. DO NOT BOOK WITH ANYONE ELSE!!! Jonathan is the BEST guide to show you the best of beautiful Bacalar. He is super knowledgeable and thoughtful about the kind of experience his guests will have. We went with a toddler and were almost two hours late and he actually waited for us. He is respectful of the environment and values special and unique nature of everything about Bacalar. We stayed in touch with him even after our tour and got recommendations on anything in the area, including medical care for our so. Who hurt himself the next day. This is a unique experience completely different from the impersonal tourist tours. He truly cares about giving you the best experience and shares so much history and detail about the sights he shows you. There is a reason he only has 5 star reviews!Great tour of southern part of lagoon. Jonathan is very knowledgeable and passionate about the lagoon and its ecology. Tour description says that it goes to Los Rapidos, which it does but you cant get close enough to ride the river.

We did this tour with our children (from 2 to 8) and it was extremely SAFE. The Captain was very thoughtful all the way. Jonathan, The Captain is also the person who shares all the information of everything you see along the ride and his PASSION is incredible. He knows such interesting facts about the origin of Bacalar and the lagoon. And most importantly he takes you to places that are not crowded and where you can be completely alone just breathing in the atmosphere and listening to nature. We loved it! Thank you for such a wonderful day!Jonatan is both fun, enthusiastic, knowledgeable about many things and we just loved our tour of the lake. A fantastic private tour with Jonathan. He is passionate and very savvy about the lagune and Mexico in general. He offered us such a good time, very focus on our needs and flexible. We were a family with a toddler and it went so well. Shade aboard the boat and pleasant speed and explanations. I can only recommend his tour compare to other more commercial tours. This felt so intimate and private, we had an amazing time. Thank you!
