Is it possible to leave 10 Stars? During our 14 day adventure to Portugal from the US, my wife and I stopped in Porto for 3 nights. To say that this tour exceeded our expectations would be a complete understatement. We have done tours all around the world Greece, Peru, France, Columbia and this was easily the best one we had ever been on. The experience itself was wonderful but it was Alfredo that made it something truly special. You often encounter guides who are charismatic and passionate but you don’t often encounter guides who are so tuned in to the energy of the people they are guiding. Alfredo found all the moments to educate but also allowed for us to enjoy the personal moments in private as well. He was communicative in advance of our tour and catered to our every request. The 18 wines/ports we tasted blew us away, so much so that we purchased 18 bottles to bring back to the states. The food was top notch, the company was incredible, and we 10000% do the same exact tour again. A highlight for us was our first stop at Casa do Romezal where Luis shared his passion of farming from over 35 generations on the land. We ended our trip with the most breathtaking tour down the river that was a great bookend to our journey. It was one of the best travel days of my life. The only thing wrong with this tour is that Alfredo does not charge enough for it. This is the value of a $500 luxury food and wine excursion and so much more. While we are no longer in Porto, we certainly left a little piece of our heart with Alfredo in the Douro. To say this tour was amazing would be an understatement. We very much enjoyed spending time with her as we went to multiple beautiful locations to learn about port wine and the region. The winemakers and people we met along the way were charming, engaging, and so knowledgeable. We absolutely loved this day! We can't speak highly enough about our tour experience in the Duoro Valley (3 vineyards, lunch, and a boat cruise) which was the perfect way to explore and taste this very special space. Not only was our guide Alfredo on time, courteous, and professional, but he was also extremely knowledgeable about the history of Portugal and the wine industry (and its history), and genuinely seems to love to introduce others to his country. His depth of experience is evident in many ways, but we especially appreciated how much consideration he gave in deciding what to offer tourists in a short period of time so that at the end of the day, they could have a good sense of the Duoro Valley and incredible memories too. His tour stands out from the rest because he has personally curated each vineyard to offer a selection of what the Duoro Valley has to offer, not just in wine, but in the size and type of vineyard. At one vineyard, our wine tasting was done by the winemaker who spend nearly 2 hours with us answering questions, this is rare for any wine country tour these days. The restaurant where we had lunch was gorgeous, it's easy to understand why many upscale weddings are held there as the grounds are impeccably maintained and stunning and your view while having lunch looks out to the vineyards and beyond. It was one of the best meals we had during three weeks in Portugal. The boat cruise is on a small, beautiful craft so it feels exclusive and not like a 'mass tourist' experience and the duration, about an hour, just right. Alfredo's car is clean, comfortable, and luxurious and he has anticipated his client's every need with bottles of water, kleenex, hand sanitizer, etc. Alfredo truly wants his clients to have a fabulous experience and memorable day. If you book with Tourvent, I think you will! You honestly can't go wrong, my husband and I agree it was one of the best days we had in all of Portugal! From the moment we met Alfredo who arrived to pick up us 3 couples from our hotel, we knew we were in great hands. From the moment we met Alfredo who arrived to pick up us 3 couples from our hotel, we knew we were in great hands. He patiently waited for us to get on board his comfortable car for a private and well curated day from Porto to Duoro Valley. Each of the wine and port tastings he selected for our visit provided a unique experience coupled with fantastic views and beautifully landscaped wineries and vineyards. The first experience at a long-time multiple generation family owned winery was so charming and intimate. Next we visited a larger estate where we first enjoyed an elegant 3 course lunch with parings followed by a wine-tasting outside overlooking a stunning view of the vineyard and surroundings. We enjoyed a lovely boat ride and ended with another wonderful wine-tasting at an incredibly beautiful winery overlooking the Duoro River. Alfredo made sure we did not miss any beautiful sights, was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and ports of the region, and answered all our questions. He gave us the highlights of Porto as well and in an incredible gesture of hospitality also welcomed us into his home. Would HIGHLY recommend spending time with Alfredo when you visit Porto and Duoro Valley.Booked this tour on Viator after seeing all the amazing reviews. Booked this tour on Viator after seeing all the amazing reviews. Well worth the price for a full day private tour with Alfredo. We started at a small boutique winery called Gueda which had amazing wine and spectacular views of the Douro Valley. We then had lunch at Restaurante Quinta da Pacheca which was divine and included in the cost of the tour. We don't often partake in fine dining so it was quite the experience for us. The food and paired wines were delicious. After this we went to Pinhão and looked at the train station and then went on a 50 minute boat ride. The final tasting of the day was at Quinta do Bomfim which overlooks the Douro River and then Alfredo drove us back to our hotel in Porto. We have gone on wine tours in past but this was our first private one and it definitely exceeded our expectations. I think it'll be hard to go back to group tours after this.It was a great full day of touring the Douro Valley with Alfredo. Alfredo planned a day that was just perfect! It was a great full day of touring the Douro Valley with Alfredo. Alfredo planned a day that was just perfect! He strives to give his clients the best experience possible. He put a lot of effort into putting together an itinerary that would allow a variety of experiences. If I could give him 10 stars, I would. He picked us up on time in a comfortable Mercedes. We toured 3 wineries. At the first winery (Casa Do Romezal), we had a friendly greeting from Luís. A table was set with a charcuterie platter to go along with our wine & olive oil tasting. After our second tasting at Quinta da Pacheca, Alfredo had set up for us to have lunch there. It was delicious food with a beautiful view. We also took a boat ride along the Douro River, stopped at one other winery and then at a train station. It was a full day but we never felt rushed. It was the right amount of time at every stop. Alfredo was very knowledgable & we enjoyed spending the day with him. If you are looking for an excellent tour of the Douro Valley, look no further. We highly recommend going with Alfredo at Tourvent!!!
