Cristóbal was a fantastic tour guide and we had so much fun on this tour. We ate an incredible range of delicious food, and Cristóbal really engagingly explained the history of each type of cuisine and the different cultures that brought the food to the area. Cris warned us not to eat too much at the first couple of stops but we couldn't help ourselves. I'd highly recommend this tour -- don't think twice about it, you'll have a blast. I'd especially recommend going early in your trip if at all possible. Once we had our favorite spots from the tour, we kept going back to them for the rest of the week, and the food was so delicious. Much better than the food we'd been eating on the beach side of town. Cristóbal clearly has a passion for food and people, and a love of good conversation. Ask him about his parents and The Big Tamale!Highly knowledgeable host. Great food stop selections: from corner taquerias to hidden restaurants. Chris knew all the foods and the back stories that helped you understand where and how the traditions came to be.

Cristobal’s tour was the highlight of our trip! We learned so much about the history of Mexico through eating amazing food. Cristobal was an extremely knowledgeable guide and also incredibly nice and personable—answered all questions and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. This experience is a must do for anyone taking a trip to Playa Del Carmen.Great way to learn about the differences in food form one region to the next without leaving the city. We stopped at 5 local restaurants for a taste of their cuisine and a great conversation with Christobal.

This tour was fantastic. I booked through their website, payed using PayPal, and received an email shortly after with confirmation that everything was ready to go. They even confirmed my notes about a shellfish allergy and insured the note would be made for the day of the tour. We met at the Pemex under the banyan tree just as described and Cristóbal met us promptly. We were on our way for our morning tour starting things off with some Cochinita Pibil and a nice history of how Puerto Morelos got it's start. We had excellent quesadillas and sopas next, seeing a co-op of women hard at work making their dishes for the day. Next door we got to see the tortilla factory pumping out hot fresh tortillas. The best I've ever had! Next up was basket tacos... Incredibly fresh and tasty. I recommend the pork and chicharrón. We also had a monkey sighting as local authorities were crating it up in order to take it to a nearby reserve for release. The fruit stand was awesome and we loved hearing more about the history of the area and the produce that is grown there. We also received a great education on Lady Guadalupe, visited a nearby Catholic Church, and heard more about how important the role that food plays in everyday life and culture of Mexico. Lastly, we enjoyed some ceviche (fish AND shrimp options taking that shellfish allergy into consideration) as well as some seafood empanadas. We loved hearing about the very young town of Puerto Morelos and the families that made their way there. At each establishment Cristóbal was able to explain how they created their signature dishes and often could tell us how they operated as a business. It was nice to have a bit of inside info. I love that you could tell Cristóbal really knew these families and appreciated everything they do... I loved that he could share that with us and we could fill our bellies with such great dishes as we learned about them. If ever you find yourself in Puerto Morelos I would recommend this tour. Big thanks to Cristóbal for an excellent experience.
