Great half-day trip before my departure with direct airport drop-off. A fantastic way to get a taste of the Reykjanes Peninsula with stops at many scenic sites. Ian was a lively and knowledgeable guide with many interesting anecdotes and fun facts. The group wasn't very big either which was great as it gave us a chance to interact more and it felt more personal. We joined the trip of Reykjanes Peninsula on April 2019 with Gateway to Iceland. We joined the trip of Reykjanes Peninsula on April 2019 with Gateway to Iceland. Since this part of Iceland is underrated, we were the only ones on the tour bus. Do yourself a favor and book this trip! It was amazing and very well organized. Andres (our guide) was very professional, knowledgeable, funny and communicative. He also offered to send us hi own pics via email. We have seen many amazing places and stopped at the small port cafe to eat an amazing lobster soup! The Gateway to Iceland is one of the two the best travel companies we used in Iceland. We will definitely use their services in the future when we will be back to the land of fire and ice! Thank you a lot!The trip itself is good. You see the geothermal park at its best. From geothermal vents to bridges across plate tectonics, this tour is a great way to spend 6 hours. The trip itself is good. You see the geothermal park at its best. From geothermal vents to bridges across plate tectonics, this tour is a great way to spend 6 hours. Our tour guide was Ian, who elevated the trip to another level. His vast knowledge of the area and friendly manner made this extremely wet and cloudy day that little bit brighter. We learned so much about the history of Iceland and the role it played in WWII. A very enjoyable experience. Thanks again Ian.We booked this so we could see a bit more of the area and we did! We booked this so we could see a bit more of the area and we did! They even picked us up without issue from our hotel the other side of Reykjavík. Yes there is quite a bit of driving but it’s in a warm and comfy luxury minibus and you have a lot of ground to cover both initially just outside the city and then around the peninsula itself. There are lots of stops to take photos etc. Our guide, Gummi, was very knowledgeable had lots of stories and was keen to show us as much as possible. He even helped out two tourists who had gotten stuck on the icy road. The peninsula is stunning and quite unique and the Fish House lumch was yum! The trip is well worth doing if you are interested in learning more about Iceland and it’s natural geography etc. The fact you are dropped off at the airport (we did this to fill our last day) is a bonus and we both said we were so glad we chose this tour. Thanks to Gummi and the team For making our last day in Iceland a good one. 👍
