Overview

Travel the Road of the Seven Lakes on a full-day journey through some of Argentina’s most breathtaking scenery. You’ll depart by minivan from your San Martin de los Andes hotel, driving past beautiful lakes, rivers and waterfalls. A guide takes you through ancient forests and Lanín National Park, and introduces you to the indigenous Mapuche. Enjoy free time to explore and purchase lunch (own expense) in the quaint town of Villa La Angostura, which serves as your turnaround point on this small-group tour, limited to 12 people.

Pass By: Lago Lacar, San Martin de los Andes Q8370 Argentina

Once aboard your comfortable minivan, set off into the foothills of the Andes, as your guide enlightens you with bits of history and insight about the surroundings. You'll trace the rim of Lago Lácar (Lácar Lake) for 2.5 miles (4 km), then venture into an ancient oak and cypress forest, where much of your journey continues.

Stop At: Lago Correntoso, Villa La Angostura Argentina

Stop at Correntoso Lake’s scenic shores for snacks such as fried cakes, queso casero (cheese) or ham (own expense), made by the Mapuche community of Quintupurai.

Pass By: Lago Espejo Chico, Ruta 40 Camino de los 7 Lagos, Villa La Angostura Argentina

Continue to Small Mirror Lake (Lago Espejo Chico) and Bodega Ruca Malen, passing bridges, an old inn and tranquil rivers, and see views that extend as far as Chile from the Espejo Grande viewpoint.

Stop At: Villa La Angostura, Villa La Angostura, Province of Neuquen, Patagonia

After 6.2 miles (10 km), you will arrive at Villa La Angostura, a village with a shopping center, a historical diplomatic residence called El Mesidor and the Bahia Manzano hotel. Enjoy a leisurely meal at one of the exceptional restaurants in the village (own expense) before heading back to your hotel in San Martin de los Andes.

La ruta es un desastre. Llena de pozos, animales que se cruzan. Hay que tener mucho cuidado sobre todo cuando se hace de noche. No hay señalizacion en el piso, está fuera de mantenimiento y no se refleja con la luz, tenes que ir muy despacio para saber donde doblar. Mis hijas terminaron vomitand...

Como siempre impactante y hermoso camino… Muy buen estado de la carretera, incluso en condiciones de nevadas. Con precaución pero se puede circular salvo que las autoridades la corten por seguridad.

Vale la pena el recorrido, sabiendo que no cuenta con ninguna infraestructura para tomar algo, comer o pernoctar. Espectaculares los Lagos y la vegetación.
