Beautiful range of gardens well labelled with plenty of space, amenities and views. We had breakfast at the cafe and then traipsed around the gardens. Easy walk from city centre, thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

A fabulous way to learn the history of the gardens and to gain insight into the more significant trees, plants and display objects therein. Highly recommended!

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens have an enviable collection of Southern Hemisphere cool climate trees. There's also the world's only plant house with a collection plants from Macquarie Island, which is mid-way between Tasmania and Antarctica. The Gardens are one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world, dating back to the early 19th century. The walking tour of the Gardens, which takes around 50 minutes, is well worth the effort.Lovely spot and small enough to be able to enjoy the whole place in one visit. Lovely spot and small enough to be able to enjoy the whole place in one visit. A lot of variety in the range of displays and plantings and supposedly some interesting wildlife as well (the guide promised us eastern barred bandicoots but they did not eventuate). A air bit of history in this one, as well as pop history as well given that this is the garden featured in Gardening Australia's regular segments on food gardens.Esther the guide made the tour interesting and related to what we were seeing. Great value for money. I would highly recommend this tour.
