Stop At: Amphitheatre of El Jem, El-Jem Tunisia
Moving to El Jem (70 km / 1h 15mn drive). El Jem’s amphitheater is the main attraction and is one of Tunisia’s most often visited sites. This monumental amphitheater, built in the mid 3rd century AD (230-240 AD), is the largest Roman monument left in Africa and ranks 3rd in the Empire after those of Rome and Verona. Being one of the last large amphitheaters built during the Roman era, its architectural design is an improvement over that of the Coliseum of Rome.

Stop At: Chott El Jerid, Entre Tozeur y Blidet, Tozeur 2200 Tunisia
Chott El Jerid, the largest Salt Lake in Tunisia, short break for photos admiring unusual landscapes of the lake. Arrival to Tozeur, the capital of Bled El Jerid « The land of palms ». Visit to the old city of Tozeur with its house decorated with traditional bricks made of clay and narrow streets covered by palm trunks.

Nous avons fait un fabuleux voyage vers le désert au départ de la ville de Sousse avec notre chauffeur Arbi et notre guide Ali était très compétent et sympathique, et il a patiemment répondu à toutes nos questions. J’essaie généralement d’éviter les visites privées parce que j’adore découvrir les lieux comme le font les autochtones, mais cette excursion est vraiment le seul moyen de voir le maximum de sites en une courte période de temps. Mes amis et moi sommes ravis d’avoir réservé cette excursion et avons de la chance d’avoir eu des guides si extras. Le dîner dans le désert fut également l’un de nos repas préférés de notre séjour de 2 semaines Tunisie ! Et la tente dans laquelle nous avons séjourné dans le désert était incroyablement somptueuse !
