Sambal Streets Kuala Lumpur Food Tour with 15+ Tastings
Overview
We'll meet in the old district of Chow Kit and Kampung Baru, some of the last remaining parts of the city not to have been developed into glassy high rises.
Don't expect other foreigners. Weave among the narrow streets sampling 14+ tastings carefully curated by a KL chef for their taste and culinary history.
The flavours change across the year, but highlights include the fragrant bowls of laksa, hand stretched rotis, nasi lemak with piquant sambal and herbal chicken rendang, charcoal-grilled mackerel and soothing iced cendol with custard-like durian. We'll end with a fine view of the mighty Petronas Twin Towers.
I'm sure you have a lot of your plate, but here's some food for thought. While it's possible to attempt such a culinary marathon yourself, you'd be one sandwich short of a Malaysian picnic not to join me on our moveable food feast.

Most importantly the food choices were very thoughtfully made and delicious!! You will try so much food, be careful to limit yourself or you might end up rolling back home :) 10/10 would book this again.Fantastic tour. Kiran is a great guide and very easy to get on with. Very good selection of food and explanation of dishes and local produce and culture. Good value and highly recommended.

Guide was very engaging, both as to the food and making personal conversation with everyone. There was a nice walk from Chow Kit to the Petronas Towers along several food alleys. We started with several local fruits, went to the "make your own pancake" shop, then a dessert with durian, street satay, two different chicken places, the last one being the "national food of Malaysia" chicken dish, a mango smoothie dessert, and probably some others I am forgetting. It was plenty of food. Everyone was full and had to leave food uneaten. Note: This is a *street food* tour, so some of it was not cuisine (like the first chicken stop), but more of a cultural experience. Of course, it's advertised that way, so it's a mix of exotic flavor and local food culture. Minor negative: While the guide was extra friendly, and discussed some local sites and food customs, the information was a little light on deep food knowledge, how these things became part of the cuisine, what cooking styles brought out the flavor, which people ate which foods in which circumstances, i.e. cultural knowledge of the food.I would thoroughly recommend you do this tour in KL. Even if you’re only there for a short time (we were here for one full day and it was worth every second). Kirin was an amazing guide. I would thoroughly recommend you do this tour in KL. Even if you’re only there for a short time (we were here for one full day and it was worth every second). Kirin was an amazing guide. She was so friendly and knowledgeable about the local food, gave us great insight into Malaysian culture and made us feel very welcome. But beware, bring your appetite as you will be full to bursting by the end of the tour and you won’t want to miss a bite. 10 stars ⭐️Great food tour in KL with Siddoz and have to mention his co-tour assistant Steve.
