This was one of the worst experiences of any trip we’ve ever taken and forsure was the worst experience of our trip to Tennessee. We will never be back and if you have children I strongly encourage you to request any other person than curly. We got curly and he wasn’t there when we were assigned him people started leaving and Wayne was nice enough to come over and help us. After a while he came up and said go down there and to follow him. He said let’s see how well you all pay attention and then proceeded to tell us how terrible millennials were out of no where. At this point we hadn’t even gotten a chance to say more than hello to this man. This was our first red flag. I so wish we would have left at this point. He then proceeded to tell us how lazy his coworkers were and how they have no work ethic and need to “ get it together” I guess there had been some call ins and why we needed to know that I’m unsure. For the record his co workers seemed 1000 times nicer and seemed like they actually enjoyed their jobs. Why we chose to get in the water with this man is beyond me. So we start rafting it’s fine for a while and it’s fine... for a minute. Then he did this turn around surfing thing and was like Jesus this giant isn’t doing Sh** no wonder we couldn’t do it to my husband. My husband my son and I have never been rafting so we took the calmer route. We weren’t even supposed to be doing that my sons autistic and it took a lot for him to even be willing to get on it and he was so excited now that he was ready. So all this yelling was making my son very uncomfortable. Towards the end we were able to jump out and we all did and started swimming. I jumped in and my son wanted to jump into my arms so I was trying to catch him and he decided that it was time to wave the paddles all around my face while I was trying to get my child into the water. When I say face I mean 2 to 3 inches from my face so I tried to swim further back but before I did he ran off at the mouth saying “time to play wack a mole” and started smacking the water around us. This big paddle being smacked in the water all around us scared my son. Like I said he’s autistic so he’s willing to try new things but when things like that happen he can have a break down quickly. So at this point my sons like screw it im getting back in the boat because he didn’t want to have any part of this activity and I’m unsure for how long it will take for him to even be open to this again. Me and my husband swam back to shore and never saw him again. We were told to tip and even after this horrible interaction I’m like ok let me go get my wallet and as I said that some guy decided to come stand on the picnic table where we are at (another guide) and eat pretty much over us so we were like no this is terrible. I worked in the service industry for years I understand people have bad days but I’ve never treated someone like that and I have never had my family treated like this either. We live by show the respect you want others to treat you with. Clearly he does not. Every other person besides curly and the man that decided to eat his lunch on us were very friendly and kind the boats were in great condition and so was the whole property it was gorgeous. If you get any other guide I would 100% recommend this. Maybe curly can take some notes from his “lazy coworkers who have no work ethic.”Had a great time rafting with them! They were the most responsive tour company and made us fee safe bringing our little ones (ages 3-6) on the trip downthe lower Pigeon. It was a great experience!

It was a great experience! We were a party of 2 adults, a 15 year old, and a 6 year old. We all had an unforgettable adventure with Mayo as our guide! There were enough small rapids to keep the 15 year old entertained, and enough smooth waters to keep the 6 year old calm. We look forward to adventuring with Mayo again!

We had 4 adults and 4 kids ages 4-8 and everyone enjoyed itEnjoyed this trip so much - not completely flat with just the right amount of action for the member of our group of 4 who was nervous about the water! Curley was confident and knowledgeable and we knew we were safe as we tackled “surfing” the river! Thanks so much!
