Pass By: Merida, Merida, Yucatan Peninsula
Come and enjoy this small group discovery of the history of S Merida, the largest Yucatan city, was founded back in 1542, and you'll encounter many historic attractions that date back to that time.
We meet you at the cruise pier to match your cruise ship porting time and head to the centro historico district. The professional guide will show you different colonial residences and structures that line the streets; these buildings lie in different states of disrepair and provide a glimpse at the history of the area, which has seen its share of revolts.
Other highlights of the tour include the Cathedral de San IIdefonso, Montejo's House and the Government Palace. These structures date as far back as the late 1500s, so you can see how the city's architecture progress over the centuries. You'll also stop by the Main Square with your guide and hear anecdotes about the city's culture. There will also be some time to do some shopping in the area.

This excursion was totally off. The guide didn’t understand English (although it was an English speaking tour), the van was crowded and in disrepair, the tour was totally random ( we visited a cenote in the Costco parking lot😳), we we’re supposed to have time to shop and visit Merida on our own which we weren’t able to. The tour guide only wanted to stop at “his” spots and was not happy when I insisted on being alone. I could go on but you get the point.Bruce_S

The excursion was not as described. The tour guide was hard to understand. The van was very uncomfortable and needed repair, shocks, air conditioner and seat belts. Tour guide kept wanting to wait on another couple to join our tour, come to find out the other couple was on the other ship that arrived an hour later. When the other couple joined us in the van, it was very crowded, my husband actually sat on an ice chest on the way back to the ship.
