We collect you from your Cusco hotel early in the morning and then transfer you in our van to the train station at Ollantaytambo.
Our train journey lasts about an hour before making an unscheduled stop at KM 104, the trailhead of the Inca Trail and the start of our hike.
Passing through the Inca Trail checkpoint we immediately see our first archaeological center, Chachabamba. These ruins were one of the last shelters used by the Inca pilgrims before they reached Machu Picchu.
After some hours we arrive at Wiñay Wayna. Named after an orchid and meaning “Forever Young” in Quechua the site provides incredible views far across the Sacred Valley.
Once the tour is complete we continue our hike for another 1-2 hours on a relatively flat section of trail. At around 4:00 pm we will reach the Sun Gate.
Intipunku provides our first views of the magnificent Machu Picchu.
Arriving in Aguas Calientes we will take you to check in at your hotel.

The hotel will prepare an early breakfast for you before we meet to take a very early bus (5:30 am) along the winding road to Machu Picchu. As we climb gradually to the sacred city we should be lucky enough to see the magnificent sunrise over the Andes.
All of our guides are experts and enthusiasts in the history and legends of Machu Picchu, and so the 2-hour tour of the site will really bring the city to life for you. Of course, there will be plenty of time to take photos, of the city….and of the wild Llamas roaming the terraces!
If you have elected to climb Huayna Picchu mountain, you will begin the hike at 10 AM (Huayna Picchu is not included in the trek price).
If you are not climbing the mountain you will have some time to explore Machu Picchu before you return to Aguas Calientes.

What a wonderful way to see Machu Picchu and I cannot recommend Action Peru Treks more. Every aspect of our trip was communicated, well organized and well planned and the trek did go as described and planned. Prior to the trip, Roxner was very patient and helpful in getting my trek booked and answering all my questions. Christian, the trek guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, patient with our small group, and incredibly kind. Was overall an incredible experience. Thank you Christian and Roxner!!Our guides Odon and Christian were great! They were very knowledgeable of the area we hiked and took a several group pictures for us. Could not have asked for better guides for our group of 12! The hotel we stayed in was very nice and within walking distance to restaurants, shopping and entertain...

The hotel we stayed in was very nice and within walking distance to restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Perfect weather during our hike at the end of March. We had an amazing experience going to Machu Picchu with Dario - what an excellent guide with so much knowledge about the history of the Incas! Would highly recommend!

We went on the 2 days/1 night Machu Picchu hike and had a great experience. Our guide, Nemias, was very relaxed and knowledgable. During the hike we never felt rushed, there was always time to stop for photos or just to take in the breathtaking views. Very glad we went for the 2 day hike instead of doing a day trip to Machu Picchu. The hike was great with stunning views. Arriving via the Sun Gate at Machu Picchu is a great experience, one not to be missed!Nemias was a great guide from start to finish. The trip had too many highlights to mention. Nemias was a great guide from start to finish. The trip had too many highlights to mention. We opted for the two day so we had time for other things but in no way did we think we’d missed much vs the 4 day trek. You pick up a different Inca trail at the start, which then joins with the classic Inca trail. The bonuses are you get two days to see Machu Picchu (end of first day and start of next) and it seems like the groups are smaller and more chilled than the bigger treks. Recommended if you like sub tropical/jungle like routes too! My gf is vegan and there were good options for eating vegan too. This was a wonderful trip! Action Trek Peru took care of everything! Train tickets, hotel rooms, food! Our guides Odon and Christian were so knowledgeable! They are the best!
