We visited the prison having also booked 'the hole' escape room for my daughters birthday. This is an outing she's wanted to do for a while. We were able to look around the prison before our session in the escape room, which was fantastic. Getting a real feel of prison life and learning about the inmates historic experiences. All in preparation for our own attempt at escaping. We did not pay for a tour, however managed to catch the end of one, in the execution room. My daughter ended up passing out in the corner of the room and the male tour guide (didn't get his name) was absolutely brilliant. Assisting her carefully out and making sure she was ok, before rejoining his tour. We've put this down to paranormal activity, as she's never fainted before or since. Very spooky!! Having never visited a prison before you most definitely get a sense prison life. We didn't expect to enjoy it as much as we did and had conversations for weeks afterwards about our experiences. Recommending it to practically everyone we know. The 'hole' escape room was very well put together and enjoyed trying to get out. The female staff member was amazing at the role of prison officer (boss) and we didn't want to get on the wrong side of her!! My daughter loved her birthday day out and even though we didn't manage to escape. We'd definitely love to come back and try the ghost tour. Thank you for a fantastic day at the prison.Did an escape room + self guided tour. Was very good, the staff were very friendly and helpful from start to finish.

Staff were helpful and it was fun seeing the cells, canteen, execution room etc. Our only regret was not going for a guided tour…still, next time.

very enjoyable experience. Visited with my sister on April 17th. Walked the corridors and looked inside some of the cells and read the facts and information of what different cells were like incl the execution room, segregation area, exercise yard. Reminded me of being on the set of Porridge with Fletcher, Godber and Mr Mackay :)Absolutely loved my visit to the prison. Lots of information to read and exhibits to see. Loved the way it felt authentic and you could wander almost anywhere without feeling rushed. Highly recommend a visit.
