Thanks to Adventures Unlimited, December 2022 transformed into a superfun, magical time! Our 6-day Sandakphu-Phalut trek was a great way to end the year. Starting from scenic Rimbick, we traipsed to Timburey, a lovely little village along the Sirikhola river. The next day was steep uphill through fragrant forests to charming Gorkhey nestled in a valley between Darjeeling and Sikkim. After that, the mountains pouted – and mist surrounded us on our cold, wintry ascent to Phalut. Part of the Singalila Ridge in the Himalayas, enigmatic Phalut sits quietly at an altitude of ~3,600 metres and is the second highest peak of West Bengal – but wears its crown lightly. Offers breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga – but this time, it was cloaked in mist and we could not see beyond a few metres! A beautiful Christmassy white world, frost-covered pines and sub-zero temperatures lent a stunning, surreal feel as we walked the seemingly endless 21 km from Phalut to Sandakphu on the Indo-Nepal border. From the summit, we descended to the quaint, inviting accommodation at Tumling with a stop at tranquil Kalpokhri. On the last day, our feet mapped the winding trail past sweet-scented daphne, rhododendron shrubs and magnolia trees to Chitrey and finally, bustling Maneybhanjang. Adventures Unlimited had planned every step, dispatched a good guide to take care of us and made excellent arrangements to ensure our comfortable stay in the intense December cold. All the homestays had friendly, helpful staff and flavourful chow. Our young guide was very accommodating of our slow speeds and incredibly knowledgeable about plants and their medicinal value. His ready chatter and self-deprecating humour led to many a moment of merriment. Catherine and Gautam, take a bow! One more memorable hike in the Himalayas with your personalized touch – we look forward to meeting you again, soon!Highly recommend this one day monsoon trek in the Singalila range with the best people in the business. Very profesional and hospitable people. Can't wait to go back.

Catherine helped me arrange a 4 day trek in March. I wanted to do it at my own pace rather than in a group with varying trekking abilities, so she sorted a solo trek for me. It was the best thing that I’ve done in India so far, really lucky with the weather, loads of snow and clear mornings to catch sunrise and the occasional sunset. If I was doing it again (which I will) I’d go for a 5/6 day trek. My guide was Ajay, who’s an absolute legend, properly looked after me and always made sure that I was well fed and full of tea. Even sent me to bed with a hot water bottle on the colder nights. Would 100% recommend. Catherine and her family are great! Really responsive and helpful, always doing her best to make things easy for you. You can’t go to Darjeeling and not do this trek.A great six days trek organised by the team of Catherine and Guatam. Superb food, well spoken & experienced guide Tenzi topped by the most amazing views of Everest and Kanchunjunga. What else can you ask for. Highly recommended for all you adventure needs.

What a great experience! We were limited for time so we did a 2 day hike to Tonglu. Our guide Amal-bai was the best, so nice, knew the places to get us all the best food & planned regular rest stops. He organised extra bits of hike to see the sunrise and to view Mt Everest and was excellent company throughout our hike. Our experience with the office and booking was also fantastic… everything was organised from the moment they picked us up at our accommodation to the moment they dropped us home inc. transport, food, accommodation, sleeping bags, regular chai and coffee. Would 100% recommend!Unforgetable trekking. Very good organized and excellent guide. Special countryside and different culture.
