Your Experience
Sail the Sparkling Aegean Sea
In the center of the Aegean Sea lies the Cyclades archipelago made up of several beautiful islands of legend, including the famous Mykonos and the mystical Delos. After a beautiful 30-minute boat ride, you will set foot in Delos. The group will gather by the Agora of the Competaliasts. From here begins your journey to the past - from history, prehistory, and myth.
What’s the Deal with Delos?
This beautiful island is home to fascinating aesthetic and utilitarian constructions. With your expert guide, you will learn more about the people that lived here, the stories they shared, and the lives they lived.
Your tour begins with the residential quarter of a 3rd-century BC theater. Here lies one of the most representative samples of a Delian House: the House of Dionysus. With its technicolor mosaics, striking murals, and intact marble columns, it is a stunning display of the island’s culture.
The route then turns to the House of Cleopatra, where you will encounter her statue adorning the entrance of an imposing courtyard. After a short stop by the House of the Trident, you will reach the Hellenistic Theater of Delos and its public cistern at the top of the hill.
Myth & Power
Delos has been a holy sanctuary for a millennium before earning the distinction of being the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis under Olympian Greek mythology. You will stroll down the hill along the high street towards the Sanctuary of Apollo with its congruent commercial zone. The impressive commercial buildings of the Hellenistic era include the Porticos of Philip the V and the King of Pergamos. After the Temples of Apollo, your tour culminates at the Terrace of the Delian Lions.
From this point on you have around 30 minutes to yourself before boarding a boat back to Mykonos. You can choose to either visit the archaeological museum, the museum shop, the cafe, or further discover the site through tracked paths.
