There were a number of kids along, and so they gave us some choice in how we spent the time. Also brought along snacks and water for us. Only caution: DO NOT APPLY SUN SCREEN at Wet Set. It's bad for the reef, and they will let you know about it, understandably. Our little group of snorkelers included a range of ability levels which our lovely guide accommodated well. Booked the classic snorkelling tour which was 2 45 mins snorkel at 2 spots. Was lucky to have only 4 of us on the tour which made us feel very safe and looked after. The current at the first site was a bit strong in some places so you need to be a competent swimmer, and then in the 2nd location we were taken through tight and shallow trenches in the coral so again needed to be a competent swimmer to make sure you didn’t damage the coral. The guide was helpful and reassuring and pointed out a few interesting fish, but keep your own eyes peeled as I spotted a few things he didn’t! Easy to get on and off the boat, though you are jumping off the boat but it wasn’t far. Water and granola bars were supplied and there was plenty of shade on the boat. You can leave your belongings at the dive shop, anything you bring on the boat will probably get wet. Mask, fins and wetsuit are provided, and life jackets are mandatory. We decided to not go for wetsuits and our legs got slightly burned as no sun cream is allowed to protect the reef. Snorkels were good quality as well. Easy to park for free near the dive shop. We did some snorkelling on a tour at Cozumel the previous day and this was far betterWe recently did the classic snorkeling trip with Wet Set. We recently did the classic snorkeling trip with Wet Set. This trip takes a group on a 2 hour snorkeling tour with 2 x 45 minute snorkel sessions at different sites on the reef. All equipment was provided and before we left we were given an overview of what we might see. The boat ride to the locations is only 5 minutes, and we followed our guide through the reef where he pointed out various fish and species of coral. Importantly, they have two guides with buoys who were always visible, and for those less confident you could hang onto these and be guided around the reef by the guides, so it was enjoyable for all abilities. I would thoroughly recommend this as a way to see one of the greatest reefs in the world. We did the Barrier Reef snorkelling with Wet Set which included 2x45min snorkelling sessions and a short boat ride. We did the Barrier Reef snorkelling with Wet Set which included 2x45min snorkelling sessions and a short boat ride. The trip was 2 hours in total which means it doesn’t take the whole day and there were three time slots to choose from. The team at Wet Set were great, especially our guide, G, and the captain, Marcos. G took us on two beautiful routes with lots of coral and colourful fish. He seemed very excited to take us to his favourite spots which was nice, and he was very knowledgeable about the reef and the wildlife. We even spotted 3 eagle rays flying in the shallows which was a highlight! Would definitely recommend. We had the 2 hour, 8:30am tour with Lara, and due to the early depart our family of 4 had the boat to ourselves. The waters were calm, we saw a ton of fish, a ray, live coral and reef life! The sunlight on the fish and sea floor at that hour were beautiful! Wet Set had wetsuits for us, life vest...
We had the 2 hour, 8:30am tour with Lara, and due to the early depart our family of 4 had the boat to ourselves. The waters were calm, we saw a ton of fish, a ray, live coral and reef life! The sunlight on the fish and sea floor at that hour were beautiful! Wet Set had wetsuits for us, life vests, fins, snorkels, waters and granola bars. The boat had a shaded top as well so we didn't need sunblock, and they didn't allow it anyway which is why the sea life is still so alive and vibrant I guess. Well worth it. Lara told us about a GREAT restaurant around the corner called La Choza del Puerto afterwards. If I had it to do over I'd allow for an extra 2 hours to walk around town after.. it's an adorable place with the flea market, little beach area (which is supposed to have a cenote area right off shore) and it's easy to get a taxi out when you're done.
