What to expect
Enjoy a fun day out on the ocean, engaging with turtles, marine life and nature with our ecologically conscious Swim with Turtles Tour!
Our tour begins with a 20min boat ride to Cook Island Aquatic Reserve (Joongurra-Narrian). The reserve lies approximately 600m off the shore of Fingal Head, NSW. It is a foraging ground to a significant number of sea turtles. The numbers are so significant that the island was originally named Turtle Island. It is here that we will dive in and meet these turtally awesome locals! The surrounding waters of the reserve are also home to a wide variety of subtropical and temperate species of fish, crustaceans, and rays – just to name a few! Prepare to be awed by the magical underwater world that lies here on our doorstep!

Had the most amazing morning with the Cooly Eco Adventures crew heading out to Cook Island. They provided all the equipment including wetsuits, fins and snorkelling gear, as well as offering us morning coffees whilst we got kitted up and had the safety briefing. A short ride down the Tweed and along the coast and we arrived at Cook Island and we’re quickly in the water and exploring the coral shelf. The best thing about this trip is that you are allowed to explore and don’t have to stay in a big group. There were lots of turtles and beautiful fish, and we also found a good sized wobbigong and carpet shark (?) We were in the for what felt like forever, and then once back on the boat were offered fresh fruit refreshments before heading back to dry land. My second tour with the crew in the last year having joined them for a whale swim earlier in the year; both thoroughly recommended! I’ll look forward to jumping on board with the Cooly Eco team again super soon and will be advising all my visiting customers and locals alike to join them for an adventure as soon as possible! An amazing experience. An amazing experience. Our hosts were knowledgeable, professional and friendly. The ride out was fun, but getting into the water with the turtles was awesome. You get right up close to big ones and there are plenty of small young ones. There are lots of bright coloured fish, a couple of harmless sharks, and the odd octopus. Great fun and way better than the Green Island experience I had up at GBR. My goal is to now swim with the whales with these guys, but I’ll have to wait until June. See you guys then and thanks for an amazing time.Everything about the experience was amazing, from the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed and had a good laugh, Dan and lachie were both super helpful and you know they love what they do so you’re going to get the best experience possible

I loved every second of this trip, they explained a lot about the land & shared their knowledge on the local animals. On our way to the island they pointed out a pod of dolphins & then when we got to the island we saw the biggest turtles you could ever imagine....
