What to expect
Itinerary
Trip with direction to the protected area entrance. During this trip, you’ll have an introduction of the history and development of the VIRCH-VALDES region. After the entrance control the first stop is the Interpretation Centre “Carlos Ameghino” in which we can see flora, fauna, geography and history of the area. In the course of this ground path, you will watch terrestrial fauna groups such as guanacos, choiques, maras, foxes, Patagonian birds and martinetas. Next, in the beach village named Puerto Piramides, in season from May to December, you will have the opportunity to board into the natural habitat of the Franca Austral whale in the New Gulf. Finishing, after lunch (optional), you will continue the path to Caleta Valdes, formed by a geographic accident which has the shape of a land tongue of 30 km and an incomparable landscape beauty. In this place, you can find an elephant seal spot and you can watch them from lookouts and paths located in a cliff. In reproduction and birth season (October/April), it is possible to watch Orcas attacking sea wolves. Returning, in order to finish the trip, you will visit a small Magallanes penguin colony. (September/March)
