What to expect
Charcuterie tasting of dried and cured meats, with a warm freshly-baked bretzel, in the best Alsatian tradition. Served with a glass of local wine or beer.

The gastronomical symbol of the region : Choucroute garnie , which is Alsatian sauerkraut with sausage (Frankfurter) and other salted meats (mostly pork) as well as steamed potatoes. To make the alsatian sauerkraut, cabbage is finely schredded, layered with salt and juniper and left to fermet in wooden barrels.

Pain d’épices or Gingerbread refers to a broad category of baked goods, typically flavored with ginger, cloves, nutmeg or cinnamon and sweetened with honey, suger or molasses.
Pain d’épices is mostly eaten during winter times, especially during the Christmas market.

• Tarte flambée “Flammekueche - pizza-like dish with bread dough rolled out very thinly, covered with cream, oignons, and thin sliced bacon
• Choucroute garnie - The gastronomical symbol of the region Alsatian sauerkraut with sausage (Frankfurter) and other salted meats as well as steamed potatoes.
• Cheese tasting - Alsatian cheese
• Kouglof glacé au Marc de Gewurztraminer - traditionally baked in a distinctive circular Bundt mold. You’ll get to try the iced version of it which is a great alternative for desert.
• Pain d’épices - Pain d’épices or Gingerbread refers to a broad category of baked goods.

Our guide Adrienne spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable. Since my husband and I were the only ones who signed up for that day, it felt like we had our own personal guide.
