My husband and I had a lovely day in Suzhou with Sunny as our guide. We booked the basic (not all-inclusive option). Sunny’s English-speaking skills were excellent, and we really appreciated a number of accommodations that Sunny made for us during the day (in addition to being our personal photographer). First, Sunny was very understanding when we were running late trying to check out of our hotel at the start of the day and had the cab driver wait for us. Second, we were able to squeeze in a trip to the Master of the Nets Garden (in addition to the Humble Administrator’s) at our request because we really wanted to see at least two of the gardens. Third, we appreciated that lunch was not set a pre-determined location. Sunny asked what we felt like eating for lunch, and when we decided on noodles, we loved that she took us to a conveniently located strip of small, inexpensive noodle restaurants where we could choose where we wanted to go based on the menu. We enjoyed lunch and love that it only cost us the equivalent of $7 US dollars total for three meals. Fourth, toward the end of our day when we were running out of time, Sunny gave us the option of doing the boat ride or visiting the leaning pagoda which we had expressed interest in seeing as well (we like that this was presented as a choice left to our discretion). Finally, when we ultimately chose the cool boat ride to see the local homes, Sunny still arranged with the cab driver later to take a detour on our way to the train station so we could at least see the leaning pagoda from the car. While I was a bit skeptical at first about the trip to the silk factory (as some reviewers wrote that it was a touristy shopping stop, which is probably true), this ended up being a highlight of our day. It was really fun and interesting getting to pet the silk worms and see silk-making in its various states. While I’m sure that the factory opens up its doors with the hope that visitors will buy something, there certainly is no obligation to do so. Although this was the most expensive and only private tour we had taken in China, we do feel that it would have been difficult and way less efficient for us to attempt to tour Suzhou on our own. It would have been very stressful trying to navigate the train stations alone, as our passports were required at a number of different points, and we only had what seemed like 10 minutes to board a very long train with tons of train cars. Plus, Suzhou is quite a big, sprawling city, and we would have had to secure numerous cab rides on our own (which isn’t easy unless you have every destination and address written down in Chinese beforehand). Overall, we were glad we booked the tour and feel that we really saw and accomplished a lot during our one day in Suzhou. Thank you, Sunny!Another interesting day trip. Another interesting day trip. Our guide Ruby is very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. She had a very warm and pleasant manner. We have learned many historical facts from her. I am thankful that we did not have a lot of time shopping St the silk factory for it could turn out to be an expensive experience. We bought some good silk products. The lunch was delicious. Pity that we did not have more time to see more scenic sites for Suzhou is known to be the ‘ heaven on earth’. Boat ride was good. Our taxi driver provided us with a most exciting ride through the heavy traffic. Looking forward to coming back for more.Has a great experience taking the bullet train to Suzhou and visited the old town which is full of history. We booked the all-inclusive version of the private day trip to Suzhou, with the bullet train option. Ruby cheerfully picked us up at our hotel and the private car driver took us all to the train station. Ruby provided us our train tickets and answered any questions we had. The bullet train was clean and quick (300 kmh); the trip to Suzhou was less than 30 minutes. From there, another private car driver took us into town. Suzhou's Historic District is large and provides a glimpse into the past. Ruby took us on a tour through the Humble Administrator's Garden, which has beautiful landscaping, buildings, furnishing and art. We later enjoyed a delicious lunch at a local Chinese restaurant. Ruby then took us on a walk through part of the old town and then on a Gondola ride on one of Suzhou's many canals, explaining the area history and architecture. We then took a private car to a Silk Factory, where Ruby provided a tour; learning about the silk manufacturing process, all the way from cocoon to fabric. Even had a chance to tour a large on-site store; my wife loves her new silk scarf. One more car trip back to the bullet train station, and a quick ride back to Shanghai. Another private car took Ruby and us back to our hotel. Everything went according to plan, and Ruby was a wonderful host and guide. We'd highly recommend the Sunny Private Day Trip from Shanghai to Suzhou, all-inclusive, with the bullet train option. We booked this tour with Sunny Tours and it really was worth it. Annie was our guide and she was great. She picked us up at our hotel on time and took us to Bullet train station. Rapidly, we arrived at Suzhou and the first stop was at Classical Gardens of Suzhou. Beautiful place to enjoy and learn more about Chinese traditions. We had lunch in a typical restaurant and Annie recommended us to try squirrel fish, a famous Suzhou food, which was delicious. Then, we visited a Buddhist Temple right in front of the restaurant and headed to Old City, where we took a pleasant canal boat ride. Finally, we had a walk along the streets admiring the architecture and buying souvenirs. Our return to Shanghai was fast with the Bullet train. Thanks to Sunny Tours, we had a great time over there.
