This was the BEST day tour of the many we have done in several countries. The key factor was our tour guide, Richard. He is a knowledgeable, educated man who easily converses in English about any subject, and so, for this tour we recommend you ask for him. He lives in Cavite and was very familiar with the places we visited: Tagaytay, Taal, the Aguinaldo home/Memorial (in Cavite), and the American WWII Cemetary in Manila. The tour is described as lasting 6 hours, but ours stretched out to 8 hours, and it was worth it. And we were back at our hotel in the late afternoon, with plenty of of time for a swim before dinner. We are a couple and we were driven in Richard’s sedan, so this was a private tour. We were picked up at our airport hotel at 5:30am (to avoid the worst Manila traffic). Once in the mountains around the lake we stopped at several places with views of the volcano island and surrounding lake. Most memorable was the mountain castle that Marcos had built for himself, but is now a “People’s Park.” Then down to lakeside for a closer view of the volcano. Richard has access to a friends lakeside property, with a very good view. He also knows all the details of how the active volcano disrupts daily life there. Then came a very good brunch at Josephine’s, a restaurant in Tagaytay with a wonderful view of the lake. It was a rainy/foggy day, but the clouds cleared and we enjoyed the view. From there we drove to the Aguinaldo mansion elsewhere in Cavite. It is now a national monument, with the mansion turned into a museum. There is a lot of history there that most Americans/ foreigners do not know. Worth a visit. Finally, we went the American WWII Cemetary in Manila. Very impressive, and equally impressive is the new Bonafacio Global City, next to the Cemetary. We highly recommend this day tour with Richard. It is the perfect way to escape Manila for a day.I had a great experience during this tour. We visited the Taal volcano and I would highly recommend. Allan was super nice and accommodating when he picked us up from non assigned list of hotel pick up list. That was a def plus, making it less stressful. The ride to Taal was pleasant and smooth at 530am till we reached Taal around 7am. The weather was cloudy and wind just right to enjoy the boat ride around the island and view the varying landscapes of the volcano. By the the time we arrived at the docking port the wind had picked up the sun was out and u can feel the heat. Guess we just got in the beat time before the summer heat catches on. We stopped by Marcos palace and the american cemetery which was a def plus. We stopped for lunch at Tias Kitchen (make sure u ask to stop by that place...its a gem and the filipina food was delicious and did not disappoint) Thank u Allan Richard for being flexible and making our trip memorable.Richard was very knowledgeable and a great tour guide. He stopped at a delightful market on the way home. We loved the boat ride and the lake views. The cemetery was awesome. A must see
