We chose a history cruise of the Tampa waterway for an afternoon sailing (12:30) extended tour. Although the guide was very communicative and informative, there are some things that we would change. Let's start with the dock area - look for "water taxi 3" not just a sign for dock 3. We were a little confused, especially since there was no boat there the first time we scoped it out. The boat itself was an old Navy diving boat - utilitarian with no comfort. The seats were hard, angled funny, and shallow. It made for an uncomfortable ride. The captain/guide gave a great overview of the area and provided water for us on a hot day. But the history was interspersed with features of the riverfront/waterfront improvements. It almost felt like an infomercial on the virtues of the riverfront area. As far as parking, Channelside garage is the closest one to the dock area. It is roughly 3 blocks away, and you'll need to pay for parking on top of your tour price. It is also used by the cruise passengers at the port, so you will be looking for parking along with everyone else. There is not much else in the area for food and drink unless it is more upscale.Despite the heat that afternoon. Our overall experience was great. Despite the heat that afternoon. Our overall experience was great. Our trip Captain greeted us with a smile and kept us informed on where the boat was located. Restrooms are located just in front of the meeting spot for the trip. He gave a lot of details regarding the areas history and notable sights during the trip. He was very helpful with embarking and disembarking, especially with my 2 kids and 2 sets for parents / in-laws. Cold water bottles were provided during the trip, which was very helpful as far as staying hydrated. We would recommend this trip for anyone who wants to see a lot of sights and are not wanting to do a lot of walking. This goes for families with small children and older family members who just likes sightseeing without needing to hike all around town. Lol.The tour person was very informative and personable. Everything went good until I had to pay for parking at the parking garage. $50 to park vs $30 for the tour, ridiculous!

But, the boat was jam packed and it was 90 out. We were all squeezed together like sardines. Someone even had to sit on the step. It was very uncomfortable.

I booked this tour on Viator about 2 hrs before it was to start. I paid for parking and stood in the Florida sun for 30 minutes past when the tour was suppose to start before I finally found the phone number for the tour company. They informed me that they had told Viator early that morning that they weren’t running tours that day but Viator still sold me a ticket. They said Viator would issue me a refund I still haven’t received so now I lost the day, I lost the money I spent on parking, and I lost the cost of the tour. Don’t trust this company—it’s a scam.Excellent boat captain. Very knowledgeable. Fun time. That's all I have to other than it was a worthwhile experience.
