A very profesional private day trip for 2 of us . Not the cheapest but good van excellent knowledgable driver . We had prebooked on line and put down our required tour . A bit of a confusion as we went to the Picton port Information area at end of port as we did not see any driver with a name board . However after a phone call we met up having crossed paths . We proceeded to the Omaka aviation museum , even if you are not into planes this is a very beautifully set up , created by a New Zealand film director . Every old vintage plane beautifully restored and in a beautiful corresponding setting .. one needs around an hour plus here and there is availability to Take to the air ( pre bookable through Omaka website ) Afterwards we went to a vineyard recommended by the tour company which was an Over view of the huge hectarage which each vineyard has in NZ . And how sophisticated the picking of the grapes is , very different to Europe . We stopped at a small roadside vineyard ( nearly all have restaurants which are v busy and was booked for us by our driver . Very good food for a fair price with wine-paring(S) if you wish , Afterwards we went to a wine sold in UK and enjoyed a tasting there . The wine production is in a huge scale and shipped in large stainless steel containers . The Yealands winery has a very beautiful ocean side vineyard which had a track to drive through . In the way through there a chickens and poultry to feed ( grain supplied) . In all we were out from 09.30 till 16.30 a very good day out including all the tours which we wanted ( available all separate on ship) Tes very recommended .One of the best fun & interesting tours. Phil was very knowledgeable & took 3 very noisy couples who had met on the trip from the UK, Canada & the USA around 6 different vineyards, and all the staff were friendly & informative about their wines. Phil was very knowledgeable & took 3 very noisy couples who had met on the trip from the UK, Canada & the USA around 6 different vineyards, and all the staff were friendly & informative about their wines. One of our best meals of theholiday was at Saint Clair winery.Phil was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable. Endeavored to ensure we all tried a wine we love. The group was small from all regions of the world. Visited 6 cellar doors and had lunch at Wairu River. It was a great day!!
