Tea Pluckers' Day
Overview
Tea Pluckers' Day is an extensive activity starting in the morning from the guests' hotel. We would drive to a tea garden/tea estate far away from the town to explore the opportunity of spending a whole day, i.e., breakfast to evening tea like a tea plucker at the garden does. We have mentioned a list of our partner tea gardens and depending on the real-time availability, we take our travellers to one of them. We serve a packed breakfast with fresh fruits and organic Darjeeling Tea. A Tea Garden tour, Forest Hike, Tea Factory Visits, A Walk through the Estate, Tea Tasting, Lunch, etc. are highlights of the tour.

A stunning tea estate which I was able to walk around and meet the tea pickers, a guided tour of the factory and the process for tea production, a tea tasting and finally a magnificent lunch at the original colonial manager’s bungalow overlooking the estate and the mountains beyond. My guide Sohom was excellent and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Darjeeling and tea production. All in all a wonderful experience. Sometimes, destiny works in mysterious ways to bring you experiences you could not have imagined. Discovering Darjeeling walks one day before my trip was one such brush with serendipity. I did not plan anything until the evening before I had to fly to Darjeeling. Quite by chance, I came across an article on the internet that featured Darjeeling walks and took my chances with them. The first day I booked the Walk of Peace with them and we had two wonderful explorers, Yoksang and Sohom accompany us. The walk through the dense pine forests was just the thing I needed to calm my weary mind and soul. Away from the hustle of the main town of Darjeeling, I fell in love with the fresh scent of the forest and the sound of the birds and the bees. So impressed was I, that I booked my second tour with them while being on the first one. The second activity with them was the tea pluckers day. We walked down an entire hill to reach the Tumsung tea estate. It's not necessary for everyone to walk down the hill if you cannot walk but walking down to an estate was a surreal experience. It was my birthday and they took us to the most beautiful English bungalow in the midst of a tea estate to celebrate my day. We had lunch in the pristine garden and all along Yoksang and Sohom made sure we were comfortable in every way. They even lugged a cake for me in the middle of the jungle. They're very considerate and very thoughtful as a team. I cannot wait to explore more with this delightful team. This was an amazing experience. This was an amazing experience. I love Darjeeling Tea and being from Australia was so fascinated with how it is made from the picking to the end product. Our tour guide was Amit and I can not recommend him high enough. He has a fantastic knowledge of the whole area, we had the pleasure of having him as our guide for three days. We also did the Heritage Walk and on day three visited a village and enjoyed their hospitality and a long walk downhill to a river then back up again. Thank you Amit and thank you Darjeeling Walks. Amit was a wonderful guide. We had many great conversations about everything from tea to politics. I enjoyed sharing my music tastes with him and learning his. It was a wonderful exchange of culture. The tea farm visit was very nice. While it wasn’t picking season, we were able to see the factory and learn about the process. The process is fairly simple and hasn’t changed much, if any, in a long time.It was a memorable experience to walk amidst the lush green tea estate surrounded by forest-covered hills, with clear blue skies above. It was a memorable experience to walk amidst the lush green tea estate surrounded by forest-covered hills, with clear blue skies above. To hear the sound of the river suddenly while hiking across the trail and touch the cool water from the mountain spring was a divine takeaway. We don't know whether it was a wildflower or a fruit, but when it falls from its source, it looks like a swarm of butterflies landing on you, it was such a magical sight! Making such beautiful memories of a lifetime, we climbed back up the narrow hilly track that took us down to the river to return to our starting point. Starting the morning with a delicious breakfast followed by a heartwarming lunch comprising of a spread of freshly home-cooked local delicacies, the day was filled with history and an inimitable experience of the tea garden and ended on a delightful note. The man who guided us on such a priceless journey, leaving an indelible mark on our memory and helping us realise the true essence of Darjeeling was Anirban Dutta of Darjeeling Walks. Such sincerity blended with the ability to cooperate in any situation is only possessed by someone who is a nature lover himself. Also, it was a pleasure to have Rahul of Darjeeling Walks with us, who is equally skilled and sincere with a compassionate heart. We enjoyed the tea tasting thoroughly too. Anirban's in-depth knowledge of the tea production and market is sure to give you a pleasant surprise. Going close to the mountains and watching the daily life and the process of farming in the rural clusters on the hillside became fond memories we will cherish forever. Last but not least, the joy of seeing the majestic Kanchenjunga from so close and the experience of treading a hilly path covered in snow to reach a spectacular viewpoint was unparalleled and inexplicable. It is not easy to take the responsibility of guiding travellers across a mountainous stretch and complete the arduous task with care and caution, but Darjeeling Walks does it effortlessly. Many thanks to all the members of Darjeeling Walks for creating the opportunity for us to witness Darjeeling from a whole new perspective. Needless to say, we returned home with tonnes of precious memories and a refreshed soul.We started our day with delicious breakfast and started walking in to forest with guide Anirban and other tourist we started at 10 am and it was perfect time for walking into forest ,we have seen magnificent scenery inside the jungle then we enjoyed rain in the mid way then we reached to the vill...
