The Explorer at Cranbourne Gardens
Discover the iconic Australian landscape and enjoy live commentary in the comfort of an open-air minibus. From the Red Sand Garden, journey along the east coast of the Australian Garden before winding back through the Peppermint Garden.
The experience lasting 25 minutes provides a wealth of interesting and engaging content including landscape stories, gardens history, cultural significance and nature interpretation. Highlights of the tour include:

Included within your ticket is the flexibility to hop off at various stops within the Australia Garden. If you fancy a stroll at any one of the highlights we welcome the freedom to continue your experience with one of our later departures by jumping back on board later in the day. (This option is subject to availability on the day).

I visited with my 87 year old mother with mobility issues. The explorer with Pete’s excellent commentary enabled my Mum to appreciate the beauty of the gardens in comfort. A lovely experience.

Was very impressed with the status of the Gardens as last time was working on the outer area where the Explorer Bus is parked. It is very different now compared to 2016 and even earlier in 2006 when the earth works was being dug. The narrator on the Bus Explorer was very interesting with all the areas withing the area local to the Visitors Centre. There was nothing mentioned of the bush outside the immediate area around the Visitor's Centre and am concerned with the all the brush growing out in the overall country as much of the bracken is not local to Australian Bush& needs to be knocked down so the natural grasses can return to feed the Australian Native vegititation. Farmers know that you only have to knock the bracken down with a rotary blade on the back of tractor will cause it to not return and to rot down and contribute to the return of the natural grasses.I took some friends from Philadelphia, they were so impressed having never seen an Australian botanical garden. I would highly recommend this to the people of Melbourne, it is well set out, the kids can play in the water stepping area and easy to get around whether walking or by the train. The ...
