This is a newer museum that reflects the various cultural aspects of Egypt’s rich history through adopting aesthetically and technologically advanced methods. It was not as crowded as I had expected it to be. Lots of great items.

Very impressive museum which was inaugurated in 2021 and where the mummies are kept. The museum refers to all Egyptian history but of course focuses on the ancient Egypt. You can see a lot of artefacts but the most impressive exhibits are the mummies who are kept on the basement of the museum. There is a gift shop as well. I believe that this museum is in top 5 must visit places in Cairo. Highly recommended.I was in Egypt 9 years ago and this museum was not here. What a great place. I was in Egypt 9 years ago and this museum was not here. What a great place. So much to see, including the mummy exhibit on the bottom floor. It was a shame my guide could not come with me to this part of the museum, I am sure she could have shed so much light on what I was seeing vs. just reading about them. There were various places to see everything from those mummies to clothing worn by various ages to excellent tools under glass. The museum was very crowded when I went but it had a big airy feeling to it vs. the claustrophobic feeling you get from so many other museums so I did not feel rushed or overwhelmed by other tourists. There was only a few times when there was a group in front of something and I could not get close enough to see it. Give yourself 2 hours at least to see everything. The area outside the museum is very pretty and you would never know you were in a major city like Cairo.Very do able in 2 hours or so. You do not get the "overwhelming" museum claustrophobia like many older museums. Surprising , not a lot of walking involved. Nice gift shop, however, only pay station was open and taking several currencies. Inspecting bills to make sure they were "new". This caused...

Nice gift shop, however, only pay station was open and taking several currencies. Inspecting bills to make sure they were "new". This caused paying to be a extremely slow process, folks on large tours gave up in frustration. Very nice overview of 4,000 years plus. This is NOT the Egyptian Museum in downtown and soon to be located near pyramids.Fue una visita impresionante. Nos gustó mucho este museo. Da unos detalles importantes sobre diferentes faraones. Naturalmente es muy poco en relación con el inmenso legado que hay.

The museum is worth visiting. Lots to see, things Americans cannot image the age of. Given that it is the NATIONAL museum, I was appalled at the state of the restroom. Absolutely filthy. Stuff your pockets with toilet paper before you leave your hotel and hike up your pant legs while walking in the stalls. No soap nor paper towels so sanitizer by the pint is a good idea. Enjoy the museum. Only use the restroom if you must. Real mummies and we saw King Tut’s display.
