Overview
Named after the mountain range between Cavaillon & Manosque, the Luberon a Provençal patchwork of hilltop villages, vineyards, ancient abbeys & mile after mile of fragrant lavender fields. A rural region that makes time for the good things in life – especially food & wine. Nearly every village hosts its own weekly market, packed with stalls selling local specialities. Visit Roussillon, Menerbes, Lacoste, village of the Marque de Sade’s 11th century château, impressive public artworks & quaint tiny houses. In 1771 the Marquis fled Paris to escape the scandals created by his erotic writing. The château belongs to Pierre Cardin. Journey on through Bonnieux to Gordes, the ancient beehive-shaped village des Bories passing through the Luberon massif & cliff-lined Combe de Lourmarin into the village of Lourmarin itself. Once a quiet farming town, now its streets are lined with design shops, galleries & boutiques. From walking around town, you can't miss the Renaissance Château de Lourmarin.

On arrival at the village of Gordes where we spend a good hour exploring narrow streets in search of antique shops, galleries, cafes & boutiques. Time here for a snack & morning coffee. As we leave visit to the Village des Bories one of the highlights of the day.

A visit to the village of Menerbes to explore the tiny narrow streets - guided walking tour of the village.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Chateau de Lacoste, route de Lacoste, 84480 Lacoste France
Visit to the village with walking tour of the tiny hill top village and around the ancient castle of Lacoste, home to the Marquis de Sade.
Duration: 1 hour

Visit to the village where you have the option to both visit the village, the markets (when they operate) and a visit to the castle - Château de Lourmarin (entrance not included and time permitting)

We had the best time in Provence thanks to Laurent! We did a 2 day tour: Marsielle and Cassis for day 1 and Luberon villages for day 2. My sister and I wanted a full Provence experience since this was our first time, and Ooh Provence modified the tours to accommodate our requests (e.g., we stopped by the Abbey in Gordes). On the first day we did a walking tour of old Marseilles and the port, drove up the cathedral and a cliff for beautiful panoramic views, had a relaxing lunch in Cassis and did a walking tour. On the second day we visited three charming Luberon villages: Gordes, Roussillon, and Lourmarin. We walked around each of them, had lunch and explored the mine in Rousillon , and ended the day strolling around Lourmarin. The tours were paced perfectly to give us enough time to enter cute shops, eat and share stories, and even grab cool drinks at a cafe by the end of the day. It felt like we were being shown around by a good friend. We were glad to have Laurent as our tour guide. He was very knowledgable and shared the history, architecture, and many fun facts about each location. He also took great care of his us, down to little things: offered cold water throughout the day ( the cooler in the car was a great idea during the hot weather), brought our luggage straight to the hotel separately for our convenience, made a lunch reservation so that we wouldn’t have to wait too long to be seated, shared life stories that made the tour much more personal, and we felt very safe that we accidentally fell asleep in the care ride due to jetlag (apparently he was sharing some trivia about our surrounding but we weren’t responding hahaha sorry laurent! 🤣), and offered help when the cobblestones were quite slippery going downhill the villages. Would 11/10 recommend taking a tour with Laurent and Chris!JoanneMarseille

What a wonderful day out! The Luberon is absolutely stunning, especially Ménerbes. Chris and Laurent's planning was just perfect and they are super friendly and full of local knowledge. Everything was taken care of so we could just relax and enjoy the moment. Thank you OohProvence.

Le rythme détendu des excursions, ainsi que ses explications détaillées nous ont permis d'approfondir notre appréciation culturelle de Provence.
