On this Northern Lights tour, we leave the city lights of Reykjavik behind and head into the darkness to maximize our chances of seeing the Aurora borealis in all its glory!
Your guide and professional photographer will setup the camera gear and start preparing for photo shoot with guests and then later on he will setup table with hot chocolate and snacks for everyone to enjoy.
On the search for the northern lights, we might travel through some of Iceland’s most spectacular natural sights without knowing but your guide is sure to let you know along the way.
Your tour guide will aim for the spots away from the city with the highest change of seeing the northern lights on the particular night.
We schedule each unique tour in a strategic location depending on the weather, cloud cover and geomagnetic forecasts

Heimir was our guide and he was so accommodating to our family’s need and even provided all sorts of Icelandic snacks and sweets for us to try! He did a great job of educating us on the northern lights and making sure we had every opportunity to see the lights!! I also loved that they keep the groups very small. Amazing time! Heimir was patient with us and although he cancelled the first night because of bad weather, he max rip for it the next day by staying out until late to ensure me and my (now) fiancé were happy! Thank you very much!

The night was a bit cloudy but he pushed SO much for us to see the northern lights. We saw them first at around 11pm, but because of the guide, we saw them again and they were even better. Aurora Experts Heimer is a gentleman and a scholar, an adventurer, and a father. He is true professional and will go above and beyond to help you catch a glimpse of the elusive Aurora. He is an expert on terrestrial and space weather, and spends hours studying data to find the best spots to witness the light show of a lifetime. We had a great time seeing the green and purple magic tendrils twist across the cold northern skies. Heimer was relentlessly chasing them to ever darker, more remote, and mysterious backroads north of Reykavik. He never gave up the search and when we finally found the right spot, under a near full moon, we got to see the Northern Lights in all their glory! It was nice not having to worry about taking photos ourselves, as he had a top-notch camera on a tripod and was getting all of the great shots for us. He was so highly recommended by ALL of the locals because the larger tour companies will take you to a crowded location, only wait for a hour, and then take you home without a care whether you see the lights or not. Heimer came prepared with hot chocolate, delicious Icelandic snacks, and fascinating conversation about the Aurora and life in Iceland as a master diver and a search and rescue specialist. Hemir was our guide for the tour, he picked us up 5 mins from our hotel, stopped at a garage in case we needed to use the bathroom or get some snacks and then we proceeded to drive to multiple different sights to check visibility and cloud cover etc. Hemir was an expert at finding amazing seclude...
Hemir was our guide for the tour, he picked us up 5 mins from our hotel, stopped at a garage in case we needed to use the bathroom or get some snacks and then we proceeded to drive to multiple different sights to check visibility and cloud cover etc. Hemir was an expert at finding amazing secluded spots in the middle of no where with little light pollution, great for seeing the lights. We thought this would be hard as there was around 500-600 tour buses all heading out the same night we did, due to the great chance to spot the lights. Hemir found multiple spots just for our group to use which made the experience even nicer as it wasn’t crowded or noisy. When stopping at our destination, Hemir was sure to clearly communicate with everyone, provided warm snow suits to keep us warm, tripods for our cameras and snacks and drinks throughout the evening! We had the best chances to see the lights and the best expert in charge of our tour! Throughout the evening we saw the lights multiple times, they got brighter, thicker and darker throughout the night. When midnight hit the sky was absolutely full all around us with aurora. We couldn’t believe our eyes and me and my partner haven’t stopped talking about it. Hemir was funny, energetic and you could tell he wanted to hunt and see the lights as much as we did so did everything he could to find them! He also took multiple pictures throughout the evening of everyone which he then shared, the pictures are amazing and we cannot wait to share them with everyone and get them put on the wall in our house!! Me and my partner really did have a once in a lifetime experience thanks to Hemir, the lights gave us the best show but Hemir made sure we was able to witness and remember this amazing show and we sure always will!! We were not able to go on this tour because Heimir had to cancel. I think it was a combination of weather (cloudy so Northern Lights wouldn't be visible) one night and an employee who tested positive for Covid the next day. Heimir contacted another tour operator on our behalf and found spots for ...
We were not able to go on this tour because Heimir had to cancel. I think it was a combination of weather (cloudy so Northern Lights wouldn't be visible) one night and an employee who tested positive for Covid the next day. Heimir contacted another tour operator on our behalf and found spots for us at the last minute. He called me (and the other tour operator) several times to make sure we were taken care of. He's a very kind and thoughtful man. I had chosen his company for a Northern Lights tour based on his rave reviews, it's obvious he deserves them. We were very disappointed we didn't get to go out with him, maybe we'll be able to the next time we're in Iceland.
