Stop At: Tikal National Park, Tikal National Park, Peten Department
Tikal National Park is the most excavated archaeological site in Central America and one of the most excavated (archaeological) sites in the world. We expect to see many temples and clim them.
ITINERARY
7:00 or 7:30 a.m. – We’ll meet you and pick you up at the airport or at your hotel in Flores or El Remate, etc.
8.30 a.m. – Arrive at Tikal National Park and begin our walk through the park visiting the most impressive sites.
1:30 p.m. – Tour ends at the parking lot and we’ll head out to eat lunch at a restaurant near the park.
2:30 p.m. - Lunch ends and we drive to Flores to have a walk by yourself.
5:00 p.m. – Arrive back in Flores to drop you off.

You want constant contact leading up to the trip — Elmer asks what medium you prefer and he delivers (via WhatsApp messaging for us), showing excitement and asking questions of what is important for you to help build your day. You want trusted transportation in a new environment — Elmer and Mario welcome you at Flores airport in a new, perfectly clean transport van with air conditioning, high roofline and USB chargers for your devices. You want flexibility during the tour, especially traveling with family — Elmer quickly determined our party needed food earlier than planned, asked detailed questions about what experience we desired and then called ahead to a roadside restaurant in Mario’s village to place orders and save cooking time, and then paid for the entire lunch. You want ease of communication — Elmer moved easily between Spanish and English, throwing in a little Mayan, and settled in perfectly using humor and kindness with the rhythm of our family dynamics. You want education about the experience — Elmer has over ten years guiding this region, and Mario is a park ranger with twenty years experience. You want a well-planned day — Elmer brings you through the park and hits every single important detail: secret buried ruins and their meaning, obscure paths through the forest away from the large group highways, sitting in small living quarters designed 1700 years ago to allow the perfect breeze for a water break, climbing the pyramids at the perfect time of day so you experience the view at the top in the shade, knowing the best photo backgrounds and leading you to the perfect spot as the larger tour groups are leaving. You want to disconnect from the responsibilities of travel and immerse yourself in the experience — Elmer packs the water, pulls out binoculars, takes your pictures and pays for a snack break without you ever reaching for your wallet. And finally, you want a sense of ownership and pride as you support hardworking local businesses — Elmer spent ten years learning his craft with another guide company before striking out on his own, just before the pandemic in 2020, and he takes ownership of every single detail as if he is bringing his friends and family to see his most prized possession. Truly one of the most wonderful days we have spent, with wonderful new friends. My son was adopted from Mazatenango 16 years ago, and this day has been the highlight of his life. Our guide Jose Luis and the Driver Sergio are really good people and they took care of you. The tour was a private one. Pick up time was actually a bit earlier but worked really good for us as our flight go in early. They had a brand new mini bus with USB charging ports, bottle water and a good AC (the weather is very humid) the full tour was around 4.5 hours and you do a lot of walking and hiking. Tikal is impressive as it’s a huge city and it’s incredible to see what Maya did in the past. Pro Tip: Ask them to take your for a quick breakfast at Gonzalez and make sure to buy bread next to the restaurant to enjoy it with some coffee over the breakfast.ThH128
