Adam, through his knowledge and engaging way of conveying his love of the history of the cocktail made this a truly enjoyable and fun experience. The range of cocktails we tasted showcased his skill and were greatly enjoyed by all of us. (Adam, noted our preferences and included that in the cocktails he mixed). Had the distinct pleasure of a group invite for the tasting tour. Numbers are limited to groups of ten, which makes it far more intimate and interactive. The Library setting is a perfect example of the ethical and locally supportive nature of this enterprise. The magnificent library table is hand crafted reclaimed wood, and sourced from a local charitable organization. The layout of the library (whilst feeling somewhat reminiscent of an old World War II bunker with it being under the railway arches) is delightfully decked out, full to the brim with interesting gin and bitter related artifacts which provide a backdrop to the enchanting story which the husband and wife team will regale you with. It is a story of obsession. An obsession with finding the true history of gin and bitters, and the desire to recreate them as honestly as possible with the most ethically sourced ingredients available today. I won't go in to much detail, as the owner Adam does a far better job of telling the story. The depth of knowledge of the industry and the history of bitter is evident (if you are like me, you will no doubt end up buying his book to delve further in to the story). It is backed up with some excellent gin samples, a taste and scent tour of their portfolio, and some tasty cocktails to help you along the way. If you have any interest in gin, bitters, cocktails then this is a must visit. If you don't then I would advise visiting anyway, as their passion and enthusiasm for the subject, and the quality of their produce might just get you hooked.
