This tour greatly surpassed my expectations. This is not a touristy tour, you get to meet and support real artisans directly. I was picked up in a Jeep in the center of Jodhpur and driven the ~20 km along a lovely country road. We stopped at a local artist’s home where he was making pottery. I got to see the whole process and even get my hands dirty on the wheel! We then went to the guides’ beautiful and peaceful home where his parents were doing traditional carpet weaving. It was incredible to watch and the final products were stunning! Here I was also served a delicious home cooked meal and chai. We then visited another nearby village and got to see what simple life looks like in this area. The final stop was an impressive warehouse where recycled textiles were being reused to make new products. I couldn’t recommend this whole experience more! This tour conducted by Prajapati family gives a good insight into the rural life of Bishnoi and other communities residing in different villages. This tour conducted by Prajapati family gives a good insight into the rural life of Bishnoi and other communities residing in different villages. We also saw from close quarters, peacocks, peahen, kingfisher, deer, blackbuck and blue bull. We also enjoyed doing some pottery and witnessed block printing and rug weaving by village artisans. It was a very enjoyable experience. The tour ended with village food cooked on slow fire. which was a treat. Our escort & guide, Ashok Prajapati, was very courteous, well versed with the history of the place and took us to all the right places so that we could cover so much in just about 5-6 hours. He also offers homestay facilities, which seemed quite comfortable, though we did not stay there. The family also makes dhurries of cotton, coir and camel wool, using natural colors. the designs were very attractive. Highly recommend this tour.Very unique experience. Very unique experience. In half a day you get to see Black Bucks & Nilgai up close, meet villagers in the hinterland of Rajasthan and also sample and learn about traditional art forms and traditions. The best part is that the Prajapati's who run this are weavers by profession and they stay in the same village as the Bishnoi's, therefore the experience is much more authentic. Om, our guide was very warm and knowledgeable. Icing on the cake was the home cooked meal we had at the end of the trip at the Prajapati's family home. Apart from the usual touristy trappings of a city, this is an experience that you must sign up for. Pro tip: they also run a beautiful homestay that's listed on Airbnb.I had a wonderful experience visiting the pottery and the textile activities, two traditional and dying arts of India. I had a wonderful experience visiting the pottery and the textile activities, two traditional and dying arts of India. The demonstrations were great and the selection of items for purchase very extensive. I wanted to buy everything! The visit to the "tree huggers" was very interesting - we had a close up with a baby water buffalo and learned the amazing story of these amazing people who live there in harmony with nature. Bishnol is a real gem in the heart of India and should not be missed by everyone wishing to get a glimpse of real life in this amazing country.
