What to expect
Next on this Krakow tour, you’ll be taken to a family home, where you’ll be able to put all that delicious fresh produce to use and get some cooking lessons from Krakow locals. You’ll be taught how to make a pierogi, a typical Polish dish (kind of like a dumpling). Whilst you’re cooking you’ll have the chance to ask all the questions about Poland you have always had.
Finally, you’ll be able to enjoy the fruits of your labour and tuck into all the Krakow food you’ve been making. As you’ll be eating with a Polish family, this will also be your chance to ask all those questions you have about Polish culture, and your hosts will be very happy to teach you all about their country. Eat, drink, and be merry – Krakow style!

• Polish pierogi (dumplings)

We started with shopping for ingredients in the market and attempting Polish in the process! Then on to the lesson (with beer and snacks), cooking Pierogies and then eating them for lunch. Delicious. I would highly recommend the whole experience and Alicja is fantastic.Aneta is a fabulous teacher, a fantastic storyteller, and a warm and welcoming host. This was part of our 'Best of Poland in 10 Days Tour' (Rick Steves Tours), and was a highlight during our three nights in Krakow. Our local 'guide' Dominika Serzysko first took us to a local market where we shopped for the ingredients -- then to her nearby apartment where we became professional pierogi pupils! Not only did we make them, we ate them -- three different varieties. Such a treat to learn from a local and spend time in her kitchen and dining room. Highly Recommend! The market was a bustling hive of activity with colorful bins of colorful produce, wild blueberries, strawberries and wild mushrooms just gathered from the forest. The market was a bustling hive of activity with colorful bins of colorful produce, wild blueberries, strawberries and wild mushrooms just gathered from the forest. Hanna was an expert guide in the market. But was an even better cooking teacher. We kneaded the dough and rolled it thin and filled the dough to form the pierogis ourselves. The boiled pierogies were delicious and so was the cold beer, Polish pickes and smoked cheese. We had so much fun, the outing was like being at at a dinner party with dear friends. As a note, don’t expect the cute hats and red aprons shown in the photo. They were not a part of our event but we did not feel we missed anything at all.Thank you Aneta for taking us around the local market to buy produce and welcoming us into your home. We had such a great time with Aneta. The whole day was fantastic! First we had a great experience going to the market and buying the ingredients we needed for our delicious pierogis. We then headed to Aneta's lovely house where we ate some delicious Polish snacks. The cooking lesson was fantastic and we had a great time chatting to Aneta learning about Poland and Krakow from a local. Can't recommend this enough.
