Jakob is an absolute legend and such a great guide!! We were lucky enough to have Jakob as our guide and because he has been here for 2.5 years he is a wealth of knowledge and so enthusiastic about his job and the area. This was our third day in the red centre and even though we’d heard a fair bit about the area, Jakob gave a great all round and detailed commentary of Uluru, The Olgas, the history of the area, the flora and fauna and so much more… he even threw in some good old dad jokes in there too! I would highly recommend doing this tour or any others tour where Jakob could be your guide!Seeing the sun rise over Uluru and it's surrounds was an experience I was so glad to have had! Seeing the sun rise over Uluru and it's surrounds was an experience I was so glad to have had! The viewing area is an easy walk from the bus drop off point and the hot drink and snack were a nice touch after the early rise required for this tour. The National Park is a fairly short drive from Ayers Rock Resort and this part of the tour is definitely suitable for everyone (even if mobility is an issue) as the track to the purpose-built viewing platforms is wide and smooth. We were lucky enough to have travelled early in the tourist season , so crowds weren't an issue but even with more buses, there seemed like there would be ample room to get that perfect photo. Time can be an issue on some organized tours but this one doesn't feel rushed at all...we were given plenty of time to just stand and appreciate Mother Nature's spectacular display. We were blessed to have two awesome guides/driver...Jacob & Shack...Jacob especially was an absolute star, being extremely enthusiastic, knowledgeable and personable ...they played off each others strengths and shared all the information in a clear, concise but always entertaining way. (there were three additional staff members helping on the tour that day too, so we were spoilt for service as they all had a wealth of knowledge about the area) The second half of the tour was a highlight I didn't really expect...Kata Tjuta and it's 36 spectacular domes is a sight to behold and not one to forget quickly! The Walpa Gorge walk is not particularly long (only an hour or so) but it is over some pretty uneven ground with plenty of rocks. It is definitely worth doing at your own pace, resting in the level areas, (which the guides allow for), as the views along the way are amazing! The final stop on the way home at the lookout was an added bonus...great clear views of the vastness of "The Olga's", with "Ayers Rock" in the distance...a bit of an uphill climb up the dune but almost fully on a metal path which allows accessibility for most people. Tips...have comfortable walking shoes with decent grip for the smooth rocks in the Gorge, consider a fly net (think of it as the Red Centre's necessary fashion accessory!) and don't forget the water! Also remember that it is necessary to pre-purchase each passenger's entry passes to the National Park - they aren't included in the tour cost (though they can be bought from the guide before you board the bus but this can slow down the boarding process and impacts on the time available at Uluru). Our tour guides today were Jacob and Shaq (spelling might be wrong sorry). Our tour guides today were Jacob and Shaq (spelling might be wrong sorry). We had a great time. They are professional and entertaining. I've been on tours all over Europe and Jacob is definitely one of the best. Great voice for commentary and seems to be enjoying his job. The tour itself was great too. Plenty of time to watch the sunrise and the gorge walk is great too. The hot tea and coffee to watch the sunrise is great. They also had individually wrapped biscuits which was awesome. Nothing worse than sharing food in a pandemic. If I had to suggest anything I'd love takeaway cups with lids, just so it's easier to walk with them.Such an amazing tour! What a better way to start the day then with an Uluru sunrise! It was so majestic, me and my fiancé were also celebrating our 10 year anniversary, so it was just an unreal way to start the day!
