Sea Saffron, what can I say but an incredible experience from beginning to end. My wife and I were on a 12-day Mediterranean cruise with Celebrity and felt that the cruise line was just not offering what we wanted to do in Valencia so we started to surf the internet and found Sea Saffron. Since this vacation was our first European vacation celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary, my birthday and my retirement we wanted only memorable experiences in every port we visited. We started communicating through emails and received such a favorable response we immediately booked on line. Fast forward to our arrival in Valencia where we were met outside the port by our hosts Eduardo and Lara. We then entered brand new chauffer driven 4 door sedans with plenty of room for our tour departure. Little touches like complimentary water found in each door were added little touches that we were just starting to enjoy. Lara was our personal tour guide and she was phenomenal at explaining the old culture of the city and the new as we walked at a leisurely pace through the town of Valencia. My wife and myself both have back issues yet found the pace of this tour very easy to walk and enjoy. Once the tour was completed we crossed the city leaving the Arts and Science Center and ascended to a roof top Balcony/Terrace overlooking the city to begin our wine and tapas tasting. Coming from a culinary background having worked for the Hilton Hotel Chain for over 10 years I can personally tell you that this was the best part of the whole day. We were met with a beautifully set table where the 10 of us sat down and commenced our wine and tapas tastings. We tested 2 exceptional wines, one red and one white along with a vast array of home-made tapas. Eduardo our host was very knowledgeable in explaining the background of the grapes, region and history of the local wines while always refilling our glasses. The tapas were completely another matter, exceptional, flavorful, and never ending. I truly believe we had at least 10 platters with 2 different tapas on each platter, I thought they would never end yet I really did not want them too. This tasting was in my opinion a delightful MEAL and an exceptional over all experience. Once this part of the tour was completed we were driven back to the same pickup/drop off location to get back onto our ship. As we departed I spoke to Eduardo, thanked him for an incredible day and whispered that in my opinion he was not charging enough for such an enjoyable day. Would I recommend this tour, absolutely without a doubt? Thanks again Eduardo and Lara.We have just returned from a 12-day cruise and our first port of call was Valencia, where we had booked an independent shore excursion with Sea Saffron. We have just returned from a 12-day cruise and our first port of call was Valencia, where we had booked an independent shore excursion with Sea Saffron. We were greeted promptly by Eduardo at the Cruise Terminal and along with six other guests were taken to the city centre by car, where we spent a fabulous few hours being guided around the Old Town and the City of Arts and Sciences by our very knowledgeable and thoughtful host Eduardo - nothing was too much trouble. It was a drizzly, dull day but our experience was far from that! The very informative walking tour was topped off with a visit to a nearby apartment with spectacular views of the city, to enjoy seemingly never-ending delicious Tapas and wine pairings (all of which were locally sourced and prepared by Eduardo and on this occasion, Mia). When everything had been enthusiastically received and consumed we were again driven by car back to the Cruise Terminal. Eduardo and his colleagues are obviously passionate about their city and everything it has to offer, so if you have a chance to take a tour with Sea Saffron - don't miss the opportunity. You won't be sorry you did! Thank you Sea Saffron for wonderful day with great company. You have got it right! We hope we will make it back one day. The initial tour of the city of arts and sciences was very informative, thanks to our guide Nick, who provided us with lots of interesting history and showed us all the great ways to view the complex. The following rooftop tapas and wine tasting was amazing. An introduction to a lot of Valencian local tapas and wines while the sun was setting over the mountains in the background - amazing! Would recommend this tour to everyone. Thank you!
