Volcano ATV Tour
Overview
During the trip, we will go to Prestvik beach where fishing ship Pelagus stranded, we will also drive around and view the scene where Guðlaugur Friðþórsson came to land after 5-6 km of swimming in the dark and cold sea after Hellisey VE 503 sank. We will drive around the lava and into the middle of the volcano Eldfell and along the coast, where the view is breathtaking.
This trip is recommended for all the family who will enjoy driving around historical sites of Vestmannaeyjar on a fun riding ATV. The ATV´s are automatic and easy to drive so no specific experience is needed. All ATV´s are 2 person where driver needs to have a driving licence, passengers need to be 6 years or older.

He also share informative history of the 1973 (Yr?) eruption and how the town was saved and a great tru story on the Fisherman from a movie The Deep (not the more recent movie with that title) who was the sole survivor of a storm the capsized a fishing boat and how he was the only member of the crew to survive. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this excursion through our Oceania cruise. Adrian was an excellent guide! He gave good instructions and took care to check each ATV at each stop. Never felt unsafe. Informative Heimaey commentary. We’re in our early 70s in good physical condition and had no issues nor did our group of 3 other couples. We were all out fitted in warm gear, helmets, and provided gloves. I’d definitely do another ATV tour!Fun and action packed! Good 4wd 650cc ATVs.
